Meet Ralph 🐾💚

Ralph is an 8-year-old English Springer Spaniel and the newest member of Sniff & Stride 🐶

Ralph can be a little nervous around new people and dogs, so we're taking things at his pace and focusing on building his confidence and trust.

To help him feel safe while we get to know each other, Ralph is currently wearing a muzzle during walks. Muzzles are a fantastic tool that allow dogs to safely explore the world while working through their worries 🐾

I'm looking forward to helping Ralph grow in confidence and watching his personality shine through as our bond develops 💚

The day started with visits to Candy and Trixie 🐱🐱, followed by a walk with Goose and an adventure with Pip 🐶

It started off nice and dry, but we definitely got caught out by the rain along the way 🌧️😅

This week's pet sit crew 🐾💚

Meet Pip, Crunchie, and Percy 🐶🐱🐱

Pip is a Border Collie who turns 2 in September. She loves playing with her ball and going on adventures, so I think we're going to have lots of fun together 🐾

Crunchie is 7 years old and Percy is 4 years old. These two will also be keeping me company alongside Pip while their family are away 💚

Looking forward to spending the next couple weeks with this lovely bunch and making sure they all get plenty of love, attention, and cuddles 🐾

🐾 Self-Employed Pet Care Assistant – Sniff & Stride

Sniff & Stride is a growing dog walking and pet care service, and I am currently looking for a reliable, animal-loving individual to join the team.
As the business continues to expand, I am looking for someone to support with day-to-day services and grow alongside Sniff & Stride.

I am happy to consider applications from individuals interested in:

• Dog walking and pet visits only • Pet sitting only • A combination of both services

⭐ About the Role
Dog walking (solo and small group walks)
Home visits for dogs, cats, and other small animals
Pet sitting (from a couple of nights up to longer stays of a few weeks)
Supporting with occasional short-notice bookings

⏰ Hours & Availability
Self-employed position
Guaranteed minimum of 5 hours per week
Availability required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
Additional hours available regularly
Hours expected to increase as the business grows
Some flexibility for occasional last-minute bookings would be beneficial

💷 Pay Structure
£13 per hour for walks and pet visits
Paid for time spent with pets (travel time between bookings is not paid)
Mileage contribution provided for travel between visits
Additional pay for group walks (per extra dog)
Overnight pet sitting paid at a fixed rate (discussed at interview)

🚗 Requirements
Own reliable vehicle and full UK driving licence
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Canine First Aid trained (or willing to complete at own cost)
Confident handling dogs and comfortable caring for cats and other pets
Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently
Good communication skills
Must be registered as self-employed and responsible for own tax and insurance

Meet Jarvis 🐾

I realised I've never introduced this handsome boy!

Jarvis is an 11-year-old Spaniel and I've just spent another two nights pet sitting with him 💚

His favourite things include food, cuddles, his rabbit ear before bed, and getting tucked up in bed nice and cosy 😅🐶

Safe to say he's got life pretty well figured out!

He is always a pleasure to look after 🐾

A little end-of-week roundup 🐾💚

There have been a few changes and adjustments this week due to the warm weather, with walks being adapted to make sure all the dogs stayed safe and comfortable ☀️🐶

Despite the heat, we've still had plenty of fun, enrichment, cuddles, and adventures along the way.

With the temperatures we’ve been having lately, I genuinely don’t understand why so many dogs are still being walked in the middle of the day ☀️🐾

Heatstroke in dogs is very real and can become serious very quickly. A dog will not suffer from missing a walk because it’s too hot — but they can suffer from being walked in unsafe temperatures.

It’s also important to remember that every dog is different. Different breeds, ages, sizes, coat types, and health conditions will all cope with heat differently — some dogs struggle much sooner than others 🐶💚

If you do want to walk your dog, keep it to the early morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler, and always check the ground temperature before heading out.

There are so many alternatives on hotter days too — enrichment at home, playtime indoors, garden time, frozen treats, training, and rest 🐾

Please think before heading out and put your dog first. If it’s too hot, skip the walk 💛
