🐾🐈‍⬛ Senior Cat Clinic Success Story 🐾🐈‍⬛

A few weeks ago, Charlie came in for a senior health screen with one of our nurses. During the check-up, the nurse spotted signs of heart disease and high blood pressure and alerted the vet straight away.

Thanks to this, Charlie was started on vital heart and blood pressure medication — and we’re happy to report he’s now doing much better!

Here he is with our cardiologist at his follow-up appointment for a blood pressure check and heart scan. 💙

Cats are masters at hiding signs of illness, which is why our senior clinics are so important in catching problems early and keeping pets healthier for longer.

If your cat or dog is 7 years or older, get in touch today to learn more about our senior health screens.

⚠️ Important: Regardless of age, if your cat ever shows signs of breathing difficulty (such as panting), please contact us immediately - this can be a medical emergency.

🐾🩺Meet our wonderful new vet, Lauren! 🩺🐾

Lauren graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2024 and has joined our team with a passion for general surgery and of course, helping your pets feel their very best!

When she’s not at the clinic, Lauren loves spending time with her family dog, Benji, a cheeky Westie Cross when she visits her hometown of Derry in Northern Ireland. 🐶💛

We’re so excited to have her on board - make sure to give her a warm welcome next time you visit!

☀️🐶 🔥 STOP. THINK. DON’T RISK YOUR DOG.

Even “just in the woods” or “under the trees” is NOT safe in this heat.

Shade is still hot. Running still overheats them. Heatstroke still kills. Shade doesn’t make them heatproof!

If you walk your dog in the middle of the day in this weather, you’re gambling with their life and it’s NOT a gamble they can choose.

Early mornings. Late evenings. Water always. Or don’t walk them at all. KEEP THEM SAFE, KEEP THEM COOL!

Please don’t risk their health - heatstroke can happen quickly and can be fatal.

If you wouldn’t run around in a fur coat in this heat, neither should they.

☀️ Hot Weather Dog Safety Advice ☀️

With high temperatures forecast this week, please take extra care when exercising your dog.

• Walk during the cooler parts of the day – early morning or late evening.

• Avoid hot pavements, which can burn paw pads.

• Ensure your dog has access to fresh water at all times.

• Do not throw balls or encourage running in the midday heat – imagine wearing a fur coat in summer and being asked to sprint!

• Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, or collapse.

Your dog’s safety and wellbeing is priority. Please keep them cool and comfortable. 🐾

Tintin popped in over the weekend with a very sore mouth 💔

The poor lad had managed to get a stick firmly wedged across the roof of his mouth 😢

Thankfully, our emergency team were ready to help and gently removed the offending stick under sedation 🩺✨

Tintin was such a brave boy and was soon back on his paws, ready to enjoy the rest of his weekend! 💛

While sticks can seem like great fun, they can sometimes cause painful injuries like this.

Sticks can cause:
🔸 Cuts and splinters in the mouth
🔸 Lodged pieces in the throat
🔸 Serious internal injuries if swallowed

If your dog loves a game of fetch, we always recommend a safer alternative – there are so many pet-safe toys out there to keep those tails wagging! 🐾

We’re always here for our registered patients – even on weekends – when accidents happen 🐶💕
