Pets at Rest Veterinary Care Mobile vet for compassionate home euthanasia & cremations. My name is Rob and I'm a vet with over 20 years experience caring for small animals.
(490)

As South Yorkshire’s highest-rated end-of-life care vet, we support families to achieve peaceful farewells at home - across Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Chesterfield, Wakefield & Doncaster. I set up Pets at Rest in 2018 to support families when the time comes to say goodbye to their companion. I keep pets' final moments relaxed and loving, ensuring the final farewell provides comfort for owners.

I qualified as a vet 22 years ago, today! I’m not sure how the time has gone so quickly but it’s been an incredible 22 years and feels like just yesterday. Life is precious and passes far too quickly for my liking, but what better reminder is there than a dog to show us how to live life to the fullest? Here’s to happy memories, past present and those yet to be made. 🐾

So HOT today! ☀️ Hope you’re all keeping cool (particularly your pets 🐾 ). It was an early morning swim for Lumin today.

As the weather looks set to get warmer, please be mindful that in temperatures like this, it’s easy for dogs (particularly older dogs) to overheat. As they get older, they find it harder to regulate their body temperature so when they get too hot, it takes longer for them to cool down which can lead to serious complications and loss of life. In particular, dogs with flatter faces, extra large breeds, heavy coats or those who are overweight will all struggle more.

Here are some tips we use with our own dog. Although Lumin is still very young, she has a double coat making her more susceptible to heatstroke.

- keep exercise earlier and later in the day when it is usually cooler
- visit parks that have water access and lots of shade
- find cool spots in the home where they can rest or use cooling mats, wet towels and fans to provide relief
- avoid fetch and limit playtime games that can increase body temperature
- ensure water bowls are kept topped up

It’s advice we’re sure you’ve heard many times before but it’s worth repeating even if it helps to save just one pet’s life.

If you feel able to, please support this pet loss survey to help others understand the difficulties associated with pet bereavement. It takes about 5-10 minutes.

Pets hold a treasured place in our hearts, and their passing can be truly heartbreaking. If you've lost a beloved companion and have a story to tell about the grief you felt, we would appreciate you sharing your story. The following survey is going to ask questions about your experience with pet gri...

Apparently it’s World Vet Day today. I didn’t realise until I saw this! Thank you to the team at Old Flatts Farm for such kind words.

It’s world vet day !

What a better time to start our partnership profile - an opportunity to highlight some of the wonderful Mobile Vet teams that we partner and are so proud to work so closely with.

We will keep adding profiles of all the fantastic teams we work with over the coming weeks.

First up is Rob who runs Pets at Rest

Rob works exclusively with us for cremation, and has done since he set up.

Rob is a fantastic Vet who specialises in home euthanasia and is excellent at what he does. He will come to your home spending time to get to know you and your pet to make sure you are all comfortable.
After events, Rob will bring your pet directly to us if required alternatively, you can make an appointment and bring yourself, or we can arrange to collect from your home if you’d prefer.

As well as home euthanasia, Rob also offers free telephone consultations and quality of life assessments.

He covers Sheffield, Chesterfield, Barnsley, Doncaster, Wakefield and surrounding areas, as well as evening and weekends appointments.
