For those struggling, weighing out the good and bad days - I saw this, and it’s the perfect explanation about why it’s better to say goodbye on a good day, rather than wait for all bad days.
Sending love to all in a struggle with an aged or sick dog right now, here for you if you need.

“Dogs don’t know they’re about to go, only you do.
Dogs live in the moment, they don’t think about what’s going to happen tomorrow, next week or next year, they live for now.
All they care about is how they feel, in that moment. Are they comfortable? Are they hungry?
Most chronic conditions don’t have a clear moment. It’s slow, it’s gradual, and the majority of owners don’t realise it’s happening until they look back.
When people come to me struggling, I often ask - are they living their best dog life? Or just ‘existing’ and the majority of the time the answer is ‘just existing’
Sometimes in those moments, the kindest thing to do is to say goodbye on a good day, after a favorite walk, meal, or just after a period of time making special memories. It’s not cruel - it’s brave.
As someone once told me myself - you’re not shortening their lives, you’re trading their suffering for your own. And it stuck with me”
