Pups & Pets Closure Announcement
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must announce the Closure of Pups & Pets.
Despite ongoing efforts to survive a very difficult trading climate and unprecedented challenges for small businesses, it is no longer possible to continue.
Pups & Pets has now been trading for 16 years. I built the brand from the ground up so this is truly heartbreaking for me. Please understand that this decision has not been easy to make but since covid and the forced relocation from Dobshill I have been fighting to keep trading as the store you all know and love.
The energy crisis, cost of living crisis and multiple other factors have had a significant impact on trade for myself and the vast majority of my suppliers, with some already closed down, others selling out to corporate companies, big increases in minimum orders etc, all having had an irreversible negative impact.
Many customers have moved to cheaper product alternatives, grocery brands, direct ordering, free delivery options etc... meaning as a single standalone independent, I just can’t compete on prices or supply with the major chains, supermarkets and online giants any longer.
Many of the brands that we were once famous for and were dedicated to supporting independents exclusively, have sold out to all the above and making it impossible to compete and meet the delivery requirements.
The added government impact of increased staffing costs, rates, pensions etc have been the straw that has broken the camel’s back, making an already impossible challenge hopeless and leaving nothing left in the pot to keep the stock healthy.
Oh, and 3 break-ins by the same person in 18 months!
I have made some wonderful friends over the years, been blessed to have had some of the best team members I could have wished for and of course seeing all your beautiful gorgeous doggos everyday have helped me live my dream for all these years.
Thank you to all of you who have supported Pups & Pets over the years and a huge and special thank you to those who have and are still sticking by us through thick and thin (you know who you are) …. Thank you so much x
This process will take time and a lot of planning, it is likely to be a couple of months before fully wrapping things up, so please do come by for a coffee and grab some bargains as the clear out gets under way. (Start your Xmas shopping early)

For the time being I will try and keep dog food and treats going as best I can (hence no reduction)
The play area will continue as usual and I am still trying to get the dog wash up and running to keep it going until we close.
