Group walk🐾❣️

The three amigos had a very soggy walk last week in the rain🌧 but they certainly did not let it ruin their fun. They had a lovely walk over the plains running around and rolling in the wet grass.
Before getting in the van, Oscar had to make sure he had a dip in the muddiest puddle he can find and made me climb in to get him, not even some cheese would persuade him to come out!

If we don't finish our day muddy or wet, we didn't do our job properly😁

A massive well done to Freddie and his owner for their amazing progress during their 1:1 heelwork package. Freddies owner contacted us after seeing Nicola working with a regular training walk dog and had lovely words to say about how kind and patient Nicola was.

During only 4 sessions working with our incredible trainer Nicola, Freddie has come on leaps and bounds with his heelwork training. Heelwork is one of the hardest skills to teach a dog as it takes a great amount of patience and consistency, however Freddie's owner was truly up to the challenge and it paid off! As Freddie progresses, the use of treats can be faded slowly until it becomes a natural habit without rewards.
Rewards of any kind is always good to use occasionaly to keep your dog motivated even when your dog is trained because if you wouldnt work without getting paid then why should your dog!

We are extremely passionate about proving everyday that you CAN train a dog and see amazing results without using pain or fear. 😁

Well done Freddie ! 🐾❣️

Today some of our doggos kept cool in one of the local rivers during their walks. They even managed to encourage some of the staff to climb in too! Swimming is a great way to exert energy and keep them cool at the same time 🌞😁

Bingo❣️🐾

This gorgeous boy is one of my 3 personal dogs. I adopted Bingo 4 months ago from a lovely customer and before that, he had around 4 other homes! From the first time I worked with him, I completely fell in love.

Bingo is a typical collie puppy. Hes high energy, high maintenance, needs clear boundaries and A LOT of mental stimulation!! Since taking him on, we have worked heavily on his heelwork and recall, however, Bingo's breed instincts were always taking over. Working breeds, such as collies, need an appropriate breed-specific outlet alongside physical exercise. For Bingo this meant herding games, a lot of impulse control and obedience training alongside a cupboard full of enrichment toys and puzzles.

Most owners we meet are under the impression that their dogs need hours of walking and running per day to be happy. This is absolutely not the case. All dogs 100% need physical exercise and time to just be a dog, however most dogs need more than that. Mental stimulation is something you will hear us talk about a lot as its something that is extremely important to have a happy and fulfilled dog. This could mean breed-specific outlets or could also mean simple enrichment activities such as kongs, licki mats, snuffle mats, slow feeder bowls or puzzle toys.
Think of it like this; After a day at school or work we usually come home exhausted. Even if we don't necessarily have a physical job, we get home and are tired from the day. This is because we are mentally tired and it usually lasts the rest of the day.
Some people go for a run in the morning before work and are able to go about a full day usually feeling more refreshed and energised.
Being physically tired does help to tire a dog out, but without mental stimulation of any kind, within an hour (and after a nap) they are ready to go again!

If you feel like your dog is never tired after a walk, or want to learn more about games and training suited to your breed, get in contact to do a 1:1 session for only £45 🐾🐾

Copied from another walker but very true

Here’s to all the dog walkers who have had to cancel walks this week.

To the ones living paycheck to paycheck, making the heartbreaking decision to put the welfare of the dogs first — even when rent is due, bills are piling up, and the food shop still needs paying for.

You are my heroes.

These weather extremes are hitting hard. And sadly, this is becoming our new normal — wet winters, unbearable spring and summer heat, one extreme after another.

Over the couple of years, so many new dog walkers have started their businesses, stepping into this industry at one of the toughest times imaginable.

The weather hasn’t just affected our income — it’s affected our mental health too. The stress, the uncertainty, the constant worry… it takes its toll.

And on top of all that, the cost of living has risen so dramatically.

Fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, insurance, food prices, rent, mortgages, utilities — everything has gone up, while many of us are earning less because of cancelled walks and unsafe temperatures.

It’s an exhausting balance trying to keep a business afloat while also trying to survive personally. For so many dog walkers, it feels like no matter how hard we work, we’re constantly trying to catch up.

But still, we keep going.

Why?

Because this is more than just a job to us. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a passion. It’s something we pour our whole hearts into every single day.

No matter the weather, no matter the setbacks, we continue showing up because we love these dogs like they’re our own.

So to every dog walker struggling quietly this week — I see you, I respect you, and I hope you’re proud of yourself for putting the dogs first, even when it costs you.

This lovely boy had a fun and very wet check in yesterday. We did some training, splashing, and chasing the hose for a little bit before being left to find treats inside. Labradors and water are a great mixture 😅🐾

A lovely review from one of Nicolas 1:1 customers. This customer came to us after seeing Nicola doing a training walk with one of our regulars and loved how encouraging and kind Nicola is to the dogs she works with.
Nicola has been working on heelwork with this puppy through our heelwork 1:1 package and the updates ive been receiving is amazing. Nicola is a very knowledgable and passionate member of staff and she's never failed to achieve amazing results. Its lovely when customers reach out with such lovely words to say about the staff, its truly an amazing team of people we have! ❣️

I had the pleasure of walking one of my day one customers again today as Pete is usually his primary walker and he had a lovely early morning play in the river. This picture was taken about 5 seconds before the mud beneath me gave out and I ended up swimming with him however Digby was very excited to splash together 😅. We did a walk of shame back to the car covered in mud and soaking wet but he was a happy doggo so thats all that mattered! 🐾😀
