Are you preparing to get a puppy this summer?
Here are some quick tips to help you make the most of those early weeks:
🐾Because those weeks will fly by! With life already busy, it’s easy to forget to enjoy the special moments. Focus on building a bond—it’s the start of a lifelong relationship.
🐾Socialise gradually. Don’t overwhelm your pup. Introduce new things at their pace, and you’ll build a confident, well-rounded dog.
🐾Enjoy training. Your dog doesn’t need to be perfect—just happy. Teach them how to be part of your world and work together as a team.
🐾Start as you mean to go on! If you don’t want a big dog jumping up later, don’t encourage it now. Reward calm greetings and set good habits early.
🐾Not every dog loves fetch (and it’s not ideal for young pups). Instead, why not into their natural instincts—like hunting games for Spaniels or tug for Terriers—to keep their minds engaged.
🐾And lastly, take photos, savour the little things, and remember: dogs are here to bring us joy, just as we bring joy to their lives.
