🐾 THE "FIVE NEEDS": MORE THAN JUST FOOD IN A BOWL

In the UK, the Animal Welfare Act 2006 outlines five essential needs that every pet deserves. At Critters Community Network, we know that meeting these needs is the foundation of a life worth living—not just for the animal, but for the human-animal bond.

While we focus on the "Need for a Suitable Diet," we know it’s deeply connected to all the others:

* Suitable Diet: Proper nutrition is the fuel for health.

* Environment: A safe, comfortable space to thrive.

* Normal Behaviour: Nutrition powers the energy needed to play, explore, and bond.

* Social Needs: Companionship (with humans or other animals) is vital.

* Protection: Freedom from pain, suffering, and preventable disease.

When we support a family with food, we aren't just helping with the immediate need for sustenance; we are ensuring that the other four needs can be met. A well-fed pet is a healthy, happy, and behaviorally balanced member of the family.

As I continue my studies in animal care, I’m constantly reminded: Good welfare is science in action.

🚀 REOPENING APRIL 7TH: A NEW CHAPTER FOR CRITTERS
After an incredible journey and 6 awards in just 4 years, we are taking a short Easter break to recharge our batteries. We will officially reopen on Tuesday, April 7th, with a slightly new look and a big new mission!

WHY ARE WE DROPPING THE "CIC" AND BECOMING CRITTERS COMMUNITY NETWORK?
We want to be 100% transparent with the community we love.

* CUTTING THE RED TAPE: Running a "Community Interest Company" involves a mountain of corporate paperwork and filing fees. Every hour spent on company reports was an hour not spent helping pets in Rotherham.

* PUTTING EVERY PENNY TO WORK: By moving to a "Community Group" model, we’ve removed those corporate administrative costs. This means more of your donations go directly to kibble, cat food, and our new outreach kits.

* AGILITY FOR FUTURE OUTREACH: Our mission is growing! We are currently in the planning stages of a new HOMELESS OUTREACH initiative. While this project isn't "live" just yet, dropping the CIC structure gives us the flexibility to eventually provide "human" essentials (like socks and hygiene kits) alongside pet food, without navigating complex company restrictions.

SAME TEAM. SAME HEART. SAME AWARD-WINNING STANDARDS.
We are still the same husband-and-wife team, backed by Level 3 Animal Care expertise and recognised by 6 awards, including the Animal Star Awards and LUXlife. We’ve just trimmed the "corporate fat" so we can be a faster, leaner, and more effective lifeline for Rotherham and the surrounding areas.

Thank you for sticking with us through this evolution. We can't wait to see you all when we reopen! 🐾

📢 CRITTERS COMMUNITY UPDATE 📢

We are currently experiencing some unexpected administrative and banking delays. AS A RESULT, WE ARE TEMPORARILY UNABLE TO ACCEPT BANK TRANSFER DONATIONS OR PAYMENTS.

What this means for you:

Support is still available: We are still distributing our dry food parcels in Hellaby as planned! Our mission to keep pets fed hasn't stopped.

Donations: If you would like to support us right now, we are only able to accept physical food donations at our hub or card payments via Square.

We are working hard behind the scenes to get our digital systems back up and running. Thank you for sticking with us—we’ve faced hurdles before, and we’ll get past this one too! 🐾
