Teresa Wilson Equine Podiatrist gave its a fantastic talk at the Clip-Clop Club this week.

Teresa shared a huge amount of information along with lots of management tips for the barefoot horse or pony.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the talk and we all learnt something new.

Thank you Teresa and we all hope you will be back with your helpful advice and bag of goodies in the near future.

When it comes to minerals, more is not always better. 👀

Zinc, copper, selenium & co. do not work in isolation.
They interact with each other — which is why balance matters so much.

Too much of one mineral can affect how other nutrients are utilised. At the same time, the body depends on minerals and trace elements working together in the right proportions. 🌿

That is why choosing a mineral feed is not just about picking the one with the highest levels. It should suit your horse’s overall ration and individual needs.

Because higher amounts do not automatically mean better balance.

👉 Not sure which mineral feed could suit your horse best?

It’s even possible to regain concavity on a shire horse with nearly a ton of weight coming down the front legs.
I’ve been trimming this shire for the last 6 months, the green arrow shows the change in dorsal wall angle. These hooves have literally ‘sucked’ back up lifting the sole off the floor and giving a nice tight white line junction.
I now have about an inch of hoof wall to grow out, then provided he is kept trimmed regularly he should have good functional hooves without the need for shoes for riding.

New horse today, looking forward to seeing these hooves improve over time. There is some nice hooves hiding there.
Good species appropriate nutrition and minerals in the correct format, along with regular trim cycle and these hooves will be strong and functional. These hooves are work in progress.
