Friends for Life Grooming Parlour

Friends for Life Grooming Parlour Welcome to Friends for Life Grooming Parlour! I am very passionate about my job and the babies always come first.

I have been a 1-1 groomer for over 9 years and have loved all the four-legged babies I have had the pleasure to groom.

To my babies due in this week...According to the weather forcast, this heat is due to continue throughout the week, unless your groom is urgent, i would urge you to re-consider moving your appointment to next week. I have plenty of times available and it truly would be safer for your babies.

Ok with this weekend predicting to be extremely hot and even worse on Monday. Its time to remind everyone of how to keep their/my babies cool...

Weather is due to get unbelievably hot this coming week, If this is happens some babies WILL be coming home tacky to finish drying at home...
Ways to keep babies cool during the heat
1. Check the floor temperatures before walking (Use the back of the hand for 5 seconds on the floor (take plenty of water for them and check every different matter tarmac, concrete, stones etc). Stick to the shaded areas where possible (remember the important rule.. NO DOG DIED FROM MISSING A WALK BUT PLENTY HAVE DIED FROM DE-HYDRATION AND OVERHEATING DURING A WALK).
2. Lay soaked towels on the concrete areas in your garden including dog ramps etc
3. Close all windows and curtains to keep the room cool, use a fan, cooling mat (with supervision), or a damp towel on the kitchen floor.
4. Supply plenty of water – scatter water bowls around the house and try adding cucumber/watermelon (leave in fridge for 10 mins), encourages dogs to drink more.
5. The hot weather is going to dry out the grass seeds a lot quicker so be very aware and check those paws.
6. If your baby doesn’t want to eat during the heat, that is absolutely normal, some will lose their appetite.
7. Keep walks short, walk early in the morning and later in the evening.
8. If need be, soak baby down with luke warm water (never cold) or use a child’s t-shirt soaked in luke warm water.
With some or all these measures in place your baby will remain a happy baby...

For all my owners interested in Fen View Pet Clinic.....My thoughts have defo gone up a notch (if at all possible). Codii had his MOT with the vet, She is amazing with the animals and very very knowledgeable. It was so nice to see someone who didn't dictate dietry requirements and try to push kibble or other foods on to you. She was quite happy with the food Codii is on (human cooked food and veg) and even though Codii is a chunky boy at this moment in time, didnt seem concerned at all. Very calming atmosphere and very friendly staff. However, i have been giving Codii raw bones twice a week which has cracked his tooth in half at the back. The vet showed me, fully explained the future problems i may encounter if i left it and the options i have to rectify it. So i've gone down the route I feel would be safe for him long-term. Codii will be having this tooth removed on Thursday 21st and all teeth cleaned for what i believe, is a very very good price, the estimate is here with me written down, so as long as he has no complications, i know exactly what amount to expect. I feel really confident in knowing, he will be treated with the utmost care and professionalism while he's there. This clinic is definitely all about the care for your babies over profit.

Darren has started making video's on the hardship some animals face on a day to day basis. I feel the information he is including in them is really important and very very informative so i'm going to start sharing them on my page.

Just in case you didnt get a chance to visit Fen view Pet Clinic on Uggmere Court Road, here are my own personal thoughts.

The clinic itself is very easy to find and there is some road parking if need be. On walking in to the reception, it felt calm and warming (didnt feel like a veterinary clinic at all). I had a walk through with the vet herself and all rooms are very well equip., clean and again had a calming effect to it. There are crates there for the poorly babies, very clean and babies will always be in view of a staff member. I have to say i'm really really happy with what I saw. All staff members were really nice and welcoming. I was so impressed I transferred Codii over with them there and then.

Just a heads up to all the lovely owners out there:- Tick season is underway. Took two off Codii yesterday after his after noon walk, one of which, had lodged itself on the underside of his mouth. Check body, legs, armpits, chest, rear end, ears...absolutely everywhere. If you dont feel you can remove them yourself, let me know and i'll take them off for you.

There seems to be a lot of pooches either going missing or found lately, so i've asked Darren to order me a halo chip reader. Only with your consent, i'd like to read your babies chip and keep a record of it just in case they ever decide to take a wander without you. I would also like to start taking phone numbers so i can match the two and get the baby home to you quicker. What this will also mean is, I will be able to read the chips of doggies found, contact the vets and reunite the babies that way. The other benefit with having one is i will be able to regularly check to make sure your babies chip is still in place and not moved.
