Crazy week part 4.
Apart from an uncomfortable mare it’s just normal vet visits for Wednesday night and Thursday.
Hallelujah!
Last night I got a sos 🆘 message from a lady whose mare has foaled that needs some help so they’ve arrived this morning and Beth Morgan Pix and Dan are working with vet as I’m at a very much needed physio appointment!
Tomorrow we’re off to felbridge.

Crazy week part 3!
Bank holiday Monday was spent trying to beat the heat. Early start to ride then siestas.
Visit to the hospital to see Azure.
Tuesday saw a 3.20am alarm call via the foaling alarm going off. Healthy filly for a client but oh my goodness new mummy is a drama queen!
We then get to go to pick Azure up 😀. He’s home but a few tense days ahead to see if his guts are all working ok.
I am now fully grey!!
Wednesday was a 4.15am leave to head to Suffolk County. What a lovely show- my first visit there.
Things didn’t quite go our way but still had a nice day out and home for 5 to make our Pilates class!!

Crazy week part 2.
So while we’re waiting for the emergency vet to arrive we hear the beep beep of the foaling alarm 🚨
Cue a speedy run 🏃‍♂️ to foal barn to find Cilla Black ready to foal!
And out pops a black and white filly. 😃🖤🤍. She’s in a hurry! She’s up and cantering in 20 minutes. Cilla was uncomfortable and needed pain meds but is actually fine- maybe she was just catching some extra 💤 as she knew how active this little girl was going to be!
We’re now split between Azure and Cilla.
I truck off with Azure to clinic and leave the girls (Beth, Morgan and Pix) to deal with Cilla and baby.
They only needed to stop her cantering and she’d be able to have a drink at the milk 🥛 bar!
She literally just never stopped! So she became Mynx!
We started Saturday at 5.30am.
The girls finished just after midnight. I drove back in at 1.30.
Checked on Mynx and went to bed 🛌.
Very grateful for dog 🐶 cuddles.
3.40 got the call to say Azure was up and surgery had gone well.
Sunday was two trips to visit Azure with the girls.
And an early night 😴

What a crazy week we’ve had.
Part 1.
Last Saturday was an early start for Herts County with 5 going. Just before 6 am I get a call from Morgan who’s up the fields checking mares - Artiste is foaling!!
So a mad dash by everyone and we’ve got two feet peeping out. Artiste is unsettled by other nosey mares so we walked her down out of the field and managed to actually get her into a pen. 10 minutes later and she eventually laid down to push. Lovely big c**t. But of course he was going to be slow to find the milk bar!
Morgan and Pix left without me and Beth. Two enemas and a good bit later he was drinking and pooping so we hopped in the to play catch up to Herts.
Missed Bagpipes jump a class clear in the HOYS Grade C but that’s how it goes.
Kali and Azure both jumped amazing rounds in the Area Trial to finish 9th and 10th with just a green mistake each.
But our old homebred Kenya only went and won 🥇 his first trial. Very pleased for Nadia and Gemma.
Then Zellow jumped a fast clear in the ride and drive but driver clipped two cones off 🙈 so we were 5th.
Good trip home before disaster struck.
Azure came off the truck very sweaty, (none of the others were). He had a roll and was looking unhappy. He’s the noisiest horse on the yard by a country mile and he was being as quiet as a church mouse. Before our eyes he deteriorate with colic. But not classic colic. No pawing. No more rolling, just cow kicking his belly. Whilst waiting for vet to come I felt his balls, one was definitely a bit hard. By the time vet arrived it was harder and swollen.
Inguinal hernia. That basically means a loop of intestine has gone round /through his inguinal ring.
Rushed him in for surgery to castrate him and pray. It was a gamble whether surgeon could successfully manipulate it all back into place, close the inguinal ring with sutures and really pray that the gut wasn’t compromised.
Azure is now home and eating well, but he’s home as a gelding.
I’d rather have a live gelding than a dead stallion so I’ll take that.
We’ve all just about stopped crying.
I’m getting car looked and watching him on cctv
🤞🤞🤞🤞
I have an amazing team around me and they are all amazing. Thank you.

So late last night this happened! Super surrogate Cilla delivered a Monkey x Zellow filly. She’s so beautiful. She’s so leggy and so bloody fast! She was up and cantering round in 25 minutes- poor Cilla was trying to catch her breath.
