We have recently had a surge in cases of patients presenting to us following accidents with sticks.

Stick injuries can vary in severity. Wood splinters can easily break off from sticks in pet's mouths, potentially causing deep puncture wounds in the mouth and throat that can lead to life-threatening infections and abscesses.

If you suspect your pet has a stick injury:

☎️ Call your vets immediately.

❌ DO NOT remove the stick if it is impaled in the body, as it may be preventing serious bleeding.

❗️ Keep your pet calm and still to prevent further movement or internal damage.

This handsome chap is Boston 😎

Boston has been so brave during his recent trips to see us after his owners noticed he had a lump on the back of his neck. Boston underwent a general anaesthetic for the lump to be removed by our vet, Amy.

Boston was such a good boy whilst here with us for his surgery! ☺️

He is pictured here with RVN Morgan after having his sutures removed ❤️

Well done Boston, you are a super duper star! ⭐️

Unfortunately we have had a deceased cat brought in to our Rhyl practice last night😔

The cat was found outside Perham Prints on Wellington Road.

The cat is female and not microchipped. She is black and white (with a black splodge on her back and a fully black tail). She appears to be around 4/5 months old.

🐾👩‍⚕️ Inspiring the next generation! 🐾

Our Registered Veterinary Nurse Georgina recently visited a local primary school to share her passion for veterinary nursing. 🩺🐶

She talked about the many varied roles of a veterinary nurse, the journey to becoming one, and some of her favourite aspects of the profession. ✨

The session finished with some hands-on fun, including bandaging practise, using a stethoscope, and trying on surgical gowns!

The children found the interactive session both inspiring and enjoyable, and Georgina loved meeting and encouraging the younger generation of potential vets and veterinary nurses.

🥰 Happy 13th Birthday, Beau!! 🥰

Beau is a much-loved regular at the clinic, and we are so incredibly proud of how well he is doing. Under the wonderful care of Vet Eliza, the rest of our team, and his dedicated owner, Beau is tackling his senior years like an absolute champ! 🐾

Today we said farewell and good luck to our wonderful head nurse Joy after being with us for 7 years!
Joy has played a big role in the development of AllPets including our Silver Cat Friendly Clinic award and diversifying our nurse clinics, as well as being such a tremendous support to all she has worked with.
We will all miss her dearly and wish her all the best in her next chapter!

🌟 STAR OF THE WEEK 🌟

Casper has been so brave during his recent visits! He unfortunately had a cruciate injury and has had orthopedic surgery with our vet Richard to stabilise his joint. Now after 8 weeks of rest and rehab, including laser therapy, Casper is doing so well and his nurse Joy awarded him our Certificate of Bravery. At 14 years old, Casper is always proving that age is just a number!

With the weather getting warmer, it is important to remember that our pets don't cope very well in the heat!

🐾 Walk dogs during the coolest parts of the day—ideally early morning or late evening to avoid the midday sun.

🔥 When taking your dog out for a walk it is important to check the temperature of the floor. Place the back of your hand flat on the pavement for 5 seconds. If it is too hot, uncomfortable, or burns your hand, it is too hot for your dog's paws!

Signs of heatstroke in pets can include:

🔥 Excessive panting
🔥 Lack of coordination or wobbliness
🔥 Lethargy
🔥 Vomiting/Diarrhoea
🔥 Drooling
🔥 Collapse
🔥 Seizures
🔥 Difficulty breathing

❗️ If you are concerned your pet is suffering from heatstroke - get them wet and off to the vet!!
