🐌🌧️ 540g of slugs and snails collected from my garden this morning.

Yes, I weighed them.

After the rain overnight they were everywhere. Most weren’t on the plants at all they were out on the lawn, where Cara leaves her toys, where a forgotten bone sometimes ends up, and where dogs naturally sniff and explore.

My haul was roughly 70% slugs and 30% snails, all relocated to the compost bin.

Of course, protecting my plants is one reason for doing it 🌱

But as a dog owner, I’m also aware that slugs and snails can carry lungworm, which is why I always do a quick garden sweep after wet weather.

Did I find them all?

No way.

There were probably hundreds more hiding in the borders and under leaves. But removing over half a kilo in one morning shows just how active they are after a damp night.

So if your dog has toys, chews, water bowls or bones that stay outside, it might be worth taking a quick look around after rain.

Anyone else do a slug patrol, or am I the only person weighing them? 😂🐌

A little something for the treat tin this week: Stinky Sticks.

The clue is very much in the name. These dried beef tripe sticks may not be everyone’s favourite smell, but plenty of dogs would strongly disagree.

They’re a simple, natural treat for dogs on a raw diet, made with no fillers and no grains. They can be given as they are, or snipped into smaller pieces for training, enrichment or a small reward during the day.

For our Salisbury customers, they’re a handy extra to add to your weekly delivery order.

Chicken necks are one of those raw meaty bones that can be really useful as part of a varied raw diet.

They give dogs something to chew and work at, which can help with enrichment as well as supporting natural teeth cleaning. They’re also a good source of protein, with naturally occurring calcium, phosphorus and amino acids.

As always with raw meaty bones, choose the right size for your dog and supervise while feeding.
