This sweet boy is Bear. Bear sadly hasn't had the best introduction to grooming, and as a result his confidence and trust in the process is very low. Bear had to be muzzled for both his safety and mine at certain points throughout his groom, and his appointment was split across two separate sessions for his comfort and to limit his stress levels. We are working to continue building Bear's confidence and even during his second session back, we could already see a huge difference! His groom is far from perfect, but with lots of patience, desensitisation and reassurance, Bear will get there! 🥰 Here at Lady & the Mutts, we will always choose humanity over vanity 🫶

The gorgeous Finn came in for a much needed 'Floof Off' Bath & De-shed. This was Finn's first professional grooming appointment and he did very well. He was a little wary of the dryer, so he really benefited from the happy hoodie as this helped to muffle the sound, whilst aiding in drying his ears. Finn's mum booked the full spa treatment so he got to experience the amazing deshedding, detoxifying and hydrating benefits of the WILDWASH 5-IN-1 Magic Mud which left his skin and coat so clean and soft! Isn't he handsome 😍🫧🐾

Nobody has any business being this cute 🥰🥺 This is Buddy the little Yorkshire Terrier. He came in for his first puppy session and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about stealing him 🙈 He was so well behaved and loved nothing more than giving me lots and lots of kisses. Who'd have thought I'd be so easily overpowered by such a small creature 😅🐶 We look forward to seeing Buddy again soon!

Rex has truly mastered 'Puppy Eyes' and yes, I may have fallen victim to his hypnotic charm (on more than one occasion). Rex came in for a bath and blow-dry and to have some matting removed from behind his ears. This was his first professional grooming appointment and he did brilliantly! Although initially unsure of the dryer, Rex soon came around and rather enjoyed it - especially on his neck. He relaxed so much that whilst drying his legs and feet, he fell asleep with his head rested on my shoulder 🥹🐶 we look forward to seeing him again soon 🫶

He's matching the wallpaper! This handsome chap is Milo the Sprocker! He came in for a full groom and was a very good boy 🐕🫶 Milo's mum likes his coat kept short and tidy especially in this warmer weather. Doesn't he look very smart!? I absolutely love how clear all his spots come through after his hair cut 🛁🐾

This gentle giant is Milo, a Golden Retriever cross Bernese Mountain Dog. He came in for a much-needed de-shed, and we just cannot get over his incredible transformation! His coat is now so soft and bright, and he must be feeling so much lighter now that all that impacted, dead undercoat has been removed. Milo was the sweetest boy and I have to confess, there were a lot of extra cuddles and treats 🤫🥹 And despite the regular deep cleaning of the salon, I'll be sure to find some of Milo's fur for days to come! I think I may be in love 😍 🐶🫶

This handsome man is Arlo 😍 Arlo came in for his full grooming session and we think he left looking and feeling much better! He was such a good boy throughout his groom and enjoyed taking advantage of all the treats and cuddles on offer. Just look at how cute he is! 🐶🫶

This fluffy pair is Monty & Pickle the Cockapoos. They were both in for a full grooming session, and it was Monty's first-ever haircut! Although initially a little unsure of the dryer, he did amazingly well and wasn't bothered about the clippers at all. I couldn't quite believe how much fur they both actually had, and they both seemed to double in size after their blow-dry. Pickle was an angel for her groom and even took a little nap on the table whilst I finished tidying her legs. They were both looking much better, and we can't wait to see them back again soon! 🐕💕🐕

This delightful lady is Darcie the Cockapoo. She came in for a full groom and was a complete pro! She knew exactly what was going to happen and when, and she enjoyed every single minute of her pamper session - especially the blow-dryer. Darcie has the cutest little smile - just look at those teefies! We look forward to seeing Darcie again soon 🫶🐶

Benji was back in again for his regular handstripping session - just look at the difference a good tidy up can make! During his sister's groom, Benji decided the best place to be was sitting on my stool, making sure I did a good job while demanding the occasional kiss and cuddle 🤗🐕

Handstripping is a specialised grooming technique for wire-haired breeds (like Terriers and Schnauzers) and for silky double-coated breeds (like Cocker Spaniels and Irish Setters). It involves manually plucking dead topcoat hair from the root, rather than cutting it. This process is painless and allows a new, healthy coat to grow in naturally, preserving the breed's signature texture and vibrant color.
There are some factors that can affect whether a dog's coat is suitable for handstripping, including whether the dog has been neutered/spayed, whether the dog's coat has been cut with clippers before, their age and how well they handle the grooming process.
