I hate to be this person but someone has to say it...if you have a teenager and they think it is funny to bark at any dog, please explain to them that this behaviour is not amusing for the dog, it is anxiety-inducing. Often, this will cause them to bark back and this is exactly what happened today whilst I was out with BB.

What makes the thoughtless act even worse is the fact that she was wearing her "nervous" jacket so either the lad can't read or he's just selfish/ignorant! Please teach your kids how to behave around dogs, scared dogs can become aggressive out of fear and we all know it wouldn't be the kid that got punished if she acted out. Just respect living beings, is it that hard?

She has come so far with her many triggers and today could have been a huge setback. Thankfully after he shook her nervous system and she barked at 3 more people, we managed to get her calmed down again. BB's nervous system is unregulated at the best of times so something like this can really unsettle her and cause her to act out of fear.

P.S. I understand he's a teenager and he might've acted on impulse, but i wont accept "boys will be boys" or "sometimes kids just don't think". Kids can be taught from a young age how to act respectfully around animals and as a result it can create the most wonderful bonds. If you don't think the boy was at fault here, maybe you are part of the problem. Winding up an animal on purpose (especially an anxious one) is selfish and cruel.
