As part of Veterinary Nurse awareness month, we asked a couple of our nurses how they got into veterinary nursing!
There's a few different paths, and everyone took their own route.

For Vikki she fell in love with animals after she got her first dog, Buster the boxer. 5 years after she got him she started a veterinary nursing course at Napier University in Edinburgh. The course was a 4 year honours degree and she graduated 2013! Sadly, this course is no longer available but other colleges do offer a degree level of study for veterinary nursing. Vikki now runs our in house weight clinics, along with everything else that comes along with being a veterinary nurse!

For Kez, she found her calling after doing work experience at her local practice. She instantly knew she was in the right place, and moved her way through the levels. She started as an ACA (Animal care assistant) before becoming an SVN (Student Veterinary Nurse) and then a RVN (Registered Veterinary Nurse) when she graduated. During her SVN days she studied at college 1 day a week, and worked in practice for the other 4. She became a Veterinary nurse at 22 and has loved it every day since!💙
