We had a double birthday celebration yesterday, as Fig also turned 4!🎉

She marked the occasion in true Fig style - fashionably late but curious to see what treats she had waiting!😋 She enjoyed a fruit ice lolly cake, her favourite fruity snacks, and a frozen smoothie, all lovingly prepared by her keeper Cindy and our amazing volunteers!🍓

Rather fittingly, Cindy used a Hunt's Cider cup as the mould, making it look like Fig was sipping on a refreshing pint of local cider!😆🍺

Happy birthday, Queen Fig!👑🩷

Plus a special shoutout to the team at Westcountry Maintenance Service who also wrapped some prezzies for the bday boy on their corporate away day!

🎭 Murder, Mystery & Moonlight – What a Night! 🔍✨

Monday night was killer in the best way possible! We celebrated our annual Murder Mystery evening in style, and this year, it landed perfectly on Agatha Christie's birthday. Could it be any more fitting?🕵️‍♀️

You sipped, you sleuthed, you laughed, and you interrogated... until the culprit was finally revealed in dramatic fashion, of course!

Everyone looked absolutely sensational, the effort you all put into your outfits truly brought the night to life. Hats off to each and every one of you!🎩💥

A massive thank you to the brilliant team at Moonstone Theatre Company, who crafted a bespoke mystery inspired by our zoo’s rich history. The story was packed with clever historical Easter eggs, and the actors (ahem, suspects) had us in stitches all night long. What a performance!

📸 We've got a huge gallery of photos from the evening - scroll through, spot your fellow detectives, and don’t forget to tag your friends if you recognise them!

This is Lima🐊✨

She is a Sunda gharial, a rare crocodilian species found in freshwater rivers and swamps across parts of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia and Malaysia🌴

Lima may look like an ancient relic, but she is very much alive and adapted for speed and precision! In the water, she can swim at speeds of up to 18 mph, and her jaws snap shut with incredible speed, lined with over 80 sharp, interlocking teeth that help her catch slippery prey💀

Her long, narrow snout is specially designed for fishing. Unlike crocodiles that hunt mammals using brute force, Sunda gharials sweep their snouts through the water with minimal resistance, making it easier to catch fish with quick sideways movements🐠⚡

You can find Lima at the end of our Croc Swamp exhibit, you may even get the chance to feed her in our newly launched Croc Swamp Experience! Head to our website to find out more information🐊

Introducing... Koidu🐒

You may remember our miracle Diana monkey who was born back in April, following mum Akea's ovarian tumour diagnosis. Now, the little infant has grown into a lively bundle of joy who you can see bounding around their paddock, chasing after big sister Sakari!

Whilst we have not determined their s*x just yet, our keepers wanted to name the newest member of the family, so Koidu it is🐒
