The dreading time has arrived 🙈🙈 We don't want to see him go, we would love for him to stay local or at least in touch with his new potential home as we are all very fond of this stunning boy
The legend that is Woody is officially looking for his next partner
Anyone that had the pleasure to meet him and or ride him has completely fallen in love with Woody and his kind nature
He is the sweetest, most clever, polite, cuddly gentle giant
There are no 4yo out there that offer a combination of size, temperament, type and quality like the lovely Woody
Woody is a gorgeous CLYDESDALE X WB a wonderful combination of kind willing nature from the Clydey and athleticism and trainability from the sport horse, woody is A BIG BOY with all of his almost 17.1hh and only being 4yo there is room to grow even more, he really is one of a kind
He is athletic, responsive, flashy, uphill with a soft mouth (opposite to most young cobs that ride on their shoulders) and good moving, he could be a serious dressage/showing prospect for an amateur to take up the levels and catch everybody's attention with his unusual looks.
He will be the type that falls asleep in the warm-up waiting for his turn, looking like he should be in the woods pulling logs and as soon as he starts moving you everybody will turn their heads your way, he is just impressive and so beautiful
Woody is a pleasure to ride, he is surprisingly very responsive off of the leg and the hand for his size and is polite so he needs very little strength fron the rider, which will make him suitable for a lady rider. He moves on as soon as you tap him with the leg, he doesn't need to be nagged, he is always willing to learn and and a real sweet, hard working gelding, he tries to understand what's asked of him and to tune up with his rider. He always gives a lovely feeling and you can accomplish something new at each schooling session, he is very rewarding for a horse of his age and experience.
Woody has done a LOT of hacking, he came from Ireland in a complete state, he was skin and bone so we took our time to bring him back to health, put weight and condition back on him and show him the world out hacking, he is brilliant in traffic, in open fields, through the village, in the woods, both in front and behind, you can lead two horses off him and he will safely carry and look after a less experienced rider. Always snaffle mouthed, he has been on busier national speed limit roads passing Lorries, tractors, buses etc..
Woody is not a complete ploddy switch off ride, you don't have to kick at every stride, unless you come across something spooky, in which case he will stop and have a look, like you would expect any 4yo to do but he doesn't cause any drama, he doesn't rear, spin, buck, runs off or any nonsense, you can give him a big kick and he will happily walk past whatever "scary monster" you met out on the road
Woody has recently started schooling too and what a natural he is, he improves massively at each session, he has 3 established paces, he has been over poles and popped a small jump, he is starting to be introduced to some very baby leg yielding too
He can go around the corner in canter better than some of the 14.2hh ponies of his age and all of this with a little-just-about 5ft4 lightweight rider (me 😊) on board, and at no point he has been drilled in the arena or forced in a shape, he is just very natural. He needs no brute force to be ridden, he would suit a man rider but I would like it to be a nice one with good, soft hands, it would be a shame to spoil a beautiful well produced humongous baby
He would be the perfect family horse to chuck the non-horsey husband on and put him at the back of a hack and learn to ride on (under supervision obviously!!) and then go out hunting/competing at the weekend with a more capable rider
He is never hot, silly, or naughty, he has a wonderful comfortable canter that you can sit for days, he is only 4yo and very tall so I wouldn't think he suited a complete novice, or someone looking to buy their first ever horse, but I believe a less experienced rider should be fine on him with a good support team around them and they could grow together, I would love to see him progressing and competing one day as he has all the skills to be very successful
He would look stunning in the hunting field as a master horse and I am confident he will have a good jump too once stronger and bigger, he is aware of his feet even tho they are the size of dish plates 😂
We all adore him, he is a very uncomplicated, polite boy on the ground and I trust him not to stand on my little 3yo girl when she wonders around (and underneath) him 🙈
Woody has been ridden by absolutely everyone and anyone, riders of all shape, size and experience and I am yet to find someone that hasn't completely fallen in love with him. I am myself not a fan of big horses, I enjoy little, sharp, hot ponies HOWEVER I love riding Woody and has been incredibly enjoyable to produce to far
