Missing Cat

Jet is missing from the Bulwell area in Nottingham. He is a Ragdoll and Maine C**n mix and has been missing since 2nd April. He was last seen around the Crabtree Farm area.

He is grey and white and has a striped, raccoon like tail. He has a grey spot on his back with a white spot in the middle.

He does not wear a collar but he is microchipped. If you have seen Jet, please message us privately with details. Please look in sheds and outhouses etc. in case Jet is stuck or has become confused with his surroundings.

Can you please help us spread awareness of Magne the missing cat?

He lives in the LE14 area and was last seen near the Stapleford Park Hotel. Magne recently moved into a new home and accidentally got out last week, so he may be disorientated and unfamiliar with his surroundings.

Please check in sheds, outhouses etc. in case he is hiding or stuck.

If you believe you may have seen him or are aware of his whereabouts, please contact the Rutland Veterinary Centre - Maresfield Road, Barleythorpe, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 7WN - [email protected] - 01572 770 011

Thank you!

Today is World Spay Day! 🐈

A day dedicated to raising awareness of the need for neutering. We've joined with 7 of the UK's animal welfare charities to promote this day; The Blue Cross, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Celia Hammond Animal Trust, International Cat Care, Mayhew, PDSA, RSPCA, SSPCA and Wood Green Animal Charity.

To some, it may sound unnecessary as your cat is "too young" or "they are brother and sister", or simply "they are not interested in that sort of thing". Unfortunately, cats will mate at an age as young as 4 months old, they will mate will their relatives, and even if they don't display any behaviour that suggests they are interested in mating, if given the opportunity to do so, they will mate.

Spaying a female cat can stop unwanted pregnancies. Neutering a male cat can also stop unwanted pregnancies and can also reduce aggressive behaviour and spraying.

Neutering is there to help cats, and as owners it is our duty to ensure that we are neutering our pets when necessary. Here at Cats Protection, we are on hand to offer advice and guidance, and to support you with any fears or concerns that you may have. Please do reach out to us if you need us, and please do think about neutering if your cat has access to other cats.

Nine UK animal welfare charities are promoting World Spay Day to encourage cat owners to have their cats spayed. Find out more about today.

Today is 'Random Acts of Kindness Day'! 😄 A day celebrating doing nice things for others. There doesn't have to be a particular reason, just an opportunity to spread some positivity and joy!

We will be celebrating by treating our cats and kittens to a few little surprises, and by spending time with our family, friends and colleagues. If you too fancy sharing a little bit of kindness, why not donate to us and show a cat that there is still plenty of love out there? https://www.cats.org.uk/donate ❤️

Your donations make a difference and allow us to carry on. Whether you choose to set up a monthly donation or a one off-gift, donating saves lives.

Please keep a look out for Gizmo who has been missing since 27th January 2025 😿

✨ New Year, New You✨

You've made your New Year's Resolution and it's time to put it into practice. The most common resolutions include increasing fitness, trying something new, spending more time with others and doing something for charity. Well, we have an event that covers all of those and more!

Our Black Rocks Orienteering Team Challenge is an incredible fundraising fitness activity. Held on Friday 7th February (so you can book the day off work 😉) at 10am at Black Rocks in Matlock.

Gather your friends, family and colleagues and compete in teams of 4, 5 or 6. You'll be handed a compass and a map and then it's down to you to venture through the wilderness and complete the tasks and activities. Each team will be scored at the end and the team with the highest points will win a prize. You'll need to work together, so choose your team wisely...

Sign ups are individual, but simply let us know who you want to work with. Why not make it a challenge in the office and see which team can score the most points?

The best part is that you can choose to donate your sponsorship money directly to us. We will receive the funds and your support will help us care for as many cats and kittens in the area ❤

Sign up now and start fundraising - https://www.cats.org.uk/BROTChallenge

🐾Todays tip is booking your cat into a cattery🐾

If your cat isn’t able to stay at home, you might want to consider booking them into a cattery. You’ll need to begin looking for a cattery in plenty of time, especially around the Christmas period. Most catteries need prior booking and you will need to leave time to find a cattery to suit both your cat and you. Remember: keep your cat’s vaccinations up to date.

Before you book into a cattery, make sure you visit to see what the environment is like. Here are some things to check when you’re there:

- Is the cattery licensed with their local authority? Ask to see the licence

- Is there any way your cat could escape the cattery? Having double doors or a safety corridor prevents cats from disappearing

- Is your cat kept separately from other cats in their own pen?

- Do the cat pens have heating and are they easy to clean?

- Is there space between each pen, so cats can’t see one another?

- Are food and water bowls and litter trays clean and tidy?

- Is the cattery comfortable with administering any ongoing medication your cat needs?

Have a chat with the cattery about taking familiar food, cat litter and a comforting item that smells of home with your cat – it can help them settle into their environment.

🏠 Todays tip is leaving your cat over Christmas - Cat Sitters 🏠

If you’re heading off on holiday or visiting relatives and friends over the Christmas period, you might be concerned about what to do with your cat while you’re away.

For most cats at Christmas, the best solution is to get a cat sitter. Cats are used to their own environment and keeping your cat at home will ensure they feel less stressed.

You could choose a friend, neighbour or family member who can visit at least twice a day, making sure your cat is safe and well-fed. Alternatively, you could book a professional pet sitting service to look after them.

You can download our cat-sitter checklist on our website here - https://www.cats.org.uk/help-and-advice/home-and-environment/cats-at-christmas

🐈 Todays top tip is dressing up your cat 🐈

Cats Protection strongly advises against dressing cats up in any form of clothing or accessories – whether that means putting them in a fancy dress outfit, santa hat or antlers. Costumes like this can restrict your cat’s movement, making them less able to express their normal cat behaviour, such as grooming or stretching.

On top of this, the risk of an outfit being caught or snagged can result in injury to your cat. Tinsel, ribbon or gift ribbon are all potential hazards and should all be avoided. They are all easily ingestible and can cause great harm if swallowed or if they become caught around your cat's neck or limbs.

Putting your cat in an outfit may also have an impact on their behaviour too, leaving them feeling threatened or unsettled. Your cat may become distressed while having an outfit put on (they might have wide pupils, flatter ears or freeze), and this could result in a reluctance to be held or stroked in the future. Instead, enjoy the festivities without dressing your cat up and you’ll have a much more content kitty.
