Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is observed annually on August 28th. It's a heartfelt day dedicated to honouring and remembering beloved pets who have passed away.

For the pet owners among us, it offers a special moment to reflect on the unconditional love, joy and companionship our furry friends brought into our lives.

While the day may stir feelings of sadness, its true purpose is to celebrate the lives of these cherished animals: reminiscing the happy memories, silly habits and unique
bonds that made them a part of the family.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day encourages us to keep their spirit alive in our hearts forever. 🌈❤

As our cats move into their golden years, arthritis becomes more of a probability. Arthritis is one of the most common causes of chronic pain, and is estimated to affect 60-90% of older cats.

Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day, when we honour these beautiful cats who have been the subject of myth and superstition for centuries.

Bringers of bad luck? Anyone who’s lived with a void cat knows the only thing they bring is love and affection (and, yes, occasional moments of chaos).

Did you know that black cats often get overlooked in rescues? If you’re thinking of adopting a cat, a shadowy sidekick might be your perfect match.

Why do cats love cardboard boxes? Because they’re cosy, enclosed and just the right size to feel safe and warm - the perfect feline hideaway.

They’re also a great place to pounce, play and scratch.

So why do we keep buying expensive fancy toys and beds, expecting a different reaction...? 😹

Remember, if your cat is ever a little less playful than usual, or hiding more, these small changes can say a lot about their health. Contact us if something’s amiss so we can help keep them happy and healthy.

✋ Before walking your dog on a hot day, press the back of your hand to the pavement for 5 seconds

🔥 If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws

As the warmer months arrive, we are more likely to spot Britain’s only venomous snake - the adder. While bites in dogs are thankfully rare, cases tend to peak between June and August. ☀️🐍

Adders are a protected species and these beautiful creatures are an important part of our ecosystem. They are not aggressive and only bite in self defence - including when stepped on or surprised by a curious dog!

By staying alert and respecting their space, we can help protect both our dogs and our native wildlife. Adders are most commonly found in drier, open habitats like:
🌳 Woodland edges
🌱 Grassy heaths and moorland
🏖 Sandy coastal areas and rocky paths
Keeping dogs under close control or on a lead, and sticking to clear paths, can help
to avoid encounters.
