Our staff team looked a little different this week, with some of our crew and liveries away enjoying the sunshine.

From alphabet buffets and ghost walks, to competitive musical chairs, silly wigs, cartwheels on the beach, and celebrating our riders’ accomplishments — it’s been a week full of smiles, laughter, and the joy of sharing such wonderful company.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed a wholesome day exploring horse behaviour.

We observed how horses communicate — from the subtlest of signals to more dominant expressions — and how they establish boundaries with one another, showing both tolerance and dominance. We also explored how they set boundaries with us and what to look out for.

We looked at the fight, flight, and freeze responses and the difference between wild and domesticated horses. We discussed the importance of slowing down our actions around animals to help them feel safe and at ease, considering how our own body language can sometimes be too assertive making horses feel vulnerable

We explored the impact our emotions have on horses, as well as the many ways they can support our mental wellbeing. We also considered how they respond in both comfortable and uncomfortable situations.

The day ended with some truly wonderful feedback from those who took part.

Although we’re incredibly sad to see Lauren Spibey leave Woodside after a fantastic four years, we couldn’t be prouder of her for chasing her dreams and securing her ideal job.

Last year, Lauren achieved a Bachelor of Science Honours in sport, fitness and coaching, and now she’s taking the next exciting step in her career as a teacher in an SEN school – a role that’s absolutely perfect for her.

Lauren will be greatly missed by her wonderful clients, our ponies, and of course the entire Woodside team who’ve loved working alongside her over the years.

She’ll be sorely missed, but we wish her all the very best in this new chapter… and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that she might pop back in for the odd cover day now and again!

Good morning, everyone!

Zoe is really looking forward to seeing you all today. She’s arrived armed with tea, coffee, and plenty of biscuits to keep us going!

Today’s session is all about opening our eyes to the fascinating ways horses communicate and express their emotions.

We still have space for two more people, so if you fancy joining us, it’s not too late. This session is especially suited to teenagers and adults.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how wonderful and supportive these kids were yesterday?
They cheered each other on, applauded every effort, and showed nothing but kindness all day long.
It was such a joy to see and hear— what a brilliant bunch!

This is what it's all about, and on top of that. I'm so proud of the kindness our riders showed their ponies when things didn't quite go perfectly first time. 🥰
