What a transformation for this old raised pond recently completed. The old pond was very high and didn’t hold much water, we removed the old liner and rocks to find a vast amount of concrete that was removed to make the pond deeper and for the new pond to meet the paving.

All the rock used is from on site with the addition of some pebbles to soften the look. Planting pockets created within the rock and plenty of hiding places for newts and wildlife.
A new stream waterfall created to aid movement and oxygen with the addition of plants like lilies, water soldier, water hawthorn and hornwort. Marginal plants include Houttuynia, Equisetum, butomous, Scirpus and Cotton grass.

Bullrush cut back and reduced ready for new growth on this lake. What a difference it makes opening up views of the red vibrant dogwood and across the island.
Such a great place to work with the sounds of toads and frogs spawning, little grebes and birds, spring has sprung!!

We recently completed this failed pond build for a client that had a builder creating the pond however their work was stopped due to the client not happy with the work, she could see it wasn’t going right and we were called in to advise which led to us re doing it! Scroll to the last pic to see how we saw it originally.
A couple of days to complete started by full removal of liner and underlay, re shaped margins and levelled shelves with a better water level and rock edge meet. The use of Oase pond edge to gain a solid edge, all original materials used with the added Filtral 3000 and fountain as a feature. Created a bird bath area below rockery in the pond and added a selection of marginal pond plants and deep water plants. Looking forward to seeing this fully planted by the client. Check out this new wildlife pond recently completed in Northampton, the landscapers left us a patch!
We enjoyed creating this pond and love the added spillway bowl complemented with warm lighting.
Planting pockets created within the rockwork and marginal shelves surrounded with pebbles.
Plants include “Colorado” lily and Peltata for the depths, Star grass, Equisetum, Bog pimpernel and Black gamecock Iris. Oxygenating w**d, Water soldiers and Ramshorn snails 🐌

This stunning Haddonstone water feature at a nursing home had a fresh clean and planting ready for the spring next year.
A full pond clean carried out to remove duckw**d and blanketw**d, full service on all fountain and pumps, lilies repotted and contour marginals split and repotted in the central urn. I love these dolphins in the centre urn! Swipe to see it clean and smart➡️

Didn’t take long to get this tank clean again, I think the fish liked it!! This visit included:
Full comprehensive water quality check and consultation for future maintenance, 50% water change via gravel cleaning, filter assessment and cleaned accordingly, glass and ornaments cleaned of algae.
Looking forward to the next visit to spruce it up!

We recently completed cutbacks around islands on this lake in Northamptonshire, cutting and pulling encroaching rush from around the islands and lake perimeter.
Reducing the roots aswell as the winter cutback helps reduce the new growth in the spring and reduces the waste build up when the water rises. This lake is home for many birds, waterfowl and small mammals and provides many safe haven’s from predators on the islands and nearby stream so we always leave untouched wildlife areas and reduce where needed allowing good flow through.

This is a first for me, seeing the northern lights in Northamptonshire! Overwhelmed by this spectacular night sky!! Check out the pictures taken on an iPhone - isn’t it amazing you can’t see this with the naked eye, you look through the camera to see this but when you take the shot it all lights up!

A small pond clean with a big lily reduction, this formal pond has been untouched for years. We gave it a fresh clean and split the lilies for repotting into new aquatic baskets. Some marginal planting to be added in the spring will complete this pond.

Autumn/ winter ready visits well underway now, check out this pond with physalis/Chinese lantern plant on the outside and a large Gunnera getting cut back and in keeping with tradition using its own leaves for frost protection ❄️ old flowers used as weights and a duck too!

What a sunny fresh day to start cutting back this lake ☀️
This visit we started with the Iris clumps and rush on the main drive in the lake and pond.
Gunnera cut back and covered using its own leaves for frost protection ready for the colder months. Water still looking blue despite running much fuller than normal.
This lake is full of wildlife such Little Grebes, Tufted ducks, the odd Kingfisher and of course Herons. Millions of Sticklebacks live here too, we do not cut back everything because of the wildlife but there’s plenty to keep us going all year, it’s a pleasure to work here and to keep it looking smart.

Check out this stunning garden by Shade landscapes, opened for the national garden scheme recently with monies raised for charity.
It was a pleasure to meet and chat to the team and for them to show this garden creation. They happily took the time to chat about the project, it was a real eye opener to what can be achieved in even a small space and using aquatic art with ponds. It’s obvious they love what they do and look forward to trying a little dabble of a similar concept myself in our own garden.
Amazing garden design, art and water gardens in the heart of Northampton. Imagine waking up to that every day!!

A recent project to finish a pond for a client, thankfully dug by someone else!
A simple pond design using the clients old slabs giving a rustic look at the end of the garden ready for their next project.
Fully planted up using wildlife friendly marginals and a waterfall with a small rockery.
Planting includes structural leaves and stems for damsel and dragonflies such as black gamecock iris, Equisetum and pontederia.
Lilies introduced to the depths such as Colorado, perrys baby red and Gladstoniana also Oxygenating w**d and Ramshorn snails. A preformed waterfall with an Aquamax classic 5500 to create flow and to aerate.
I look forward to seeing the garden in the future. 🪷

A recent pond clean and filter install completed for this muddy looking pond 💦
A complete clean out and removal of sludge, split and repotted the lily from a toy basket and no soil in to aquatic mesh baskets and Aquasoil for extra coverage and some additional marginal planting added.

Planting chosen to complement the feel of this pond,
including evergreen Equisetum and Acorus, autumn flowering stargrass with Pontederia and orange peel plant/ houttuynia for summer flowering and fragrance.
Ramshorn snails added for cleanup crew and additional frog escape to aid wildlife.

Swapped the tiny fountain for an Filtral 3000 all in one filter pump and UV to clarify the pond with the fountain attachment for oxygen creation.

A recent small courtyard pond clean completed.
The overtaken yellow Iris was replaced with a more delicate Black Gamecock Iris, stunning stargrass and an evergreen Equisetum, also added a dwarf perrys red water lily and oxygenating w**d.
The 3 goldfish and several frogs will now have a cleaner pond! 🐸
