Lots of fun in our Scent Detection classes Monday and Tuesday this week. We practiced Kong searches and Catnip retrieve, 2 of the United Canine Scentsport components.
We'll be starting new classes tomorrow, Thursday evening and there is ONE space available.
The Thursday classes are in cooperation with Paw Prints NI, 2 Instructors, 6 teams and lots of fun.

Would you like to come along on Ollie's journey?
He has just found his new home after a short stay at The Barn Animal Rescue Newtownards and his lovely new owners have committed to giving him all the training he needs to live his best life.
We have started with desensitisation work as he recently had an unlucky run-in with another not so friendly dog and now he is getting stressed seeing another dog even at a distance. We added scent related games to the training to help calm everything down for this young lad.
He was doing so well today and gave us his all. What a fabulous boy and the biggest thanks to his dedicated new owners.

Do you remember Barry, the shy Hound tip-toeing around the search area, sniffing so carefully as not to make a sound?
Well, that's in the past now, look at this boy today!

Tail wagging, moving confidently and purposefully through different search areas, sniffing noisily, eating food rewards.
I am so happy for Barry and his people!!

It's amazing what Scent Detection can do to help shy, introvert dogs having fun following their nose and building confidence. 🫶👏

Not to be missed!!

🐶Calling all dog lovers and their four-legged friends! Join us at Whitehead Railway Museum for a tail-wagging day out at Paws on the Platform- a fun-filled dog-themed event for the whole family.

🐕We’re delighted to welcome The Nose Zone , who will be running exciting demonstrations with their operational Scent Detection teams throughout the day. Visitors and their dogs can also take part in interactive “have-a-go” scent activities, mini training classes and enjoy the chance to chat with professional trainers at the “Ask the Dog Trainer” area.

Activities throughout the day include:

Doggy stalls and treats
Fun competitions and prizes for your canine companions
Mini dog training sessions including tricks, recall, attention work and interactive play
🚂Short steam train rides within the museum grounds with your pooch aboard
Whether you’re a dedicated dog enthusiast or simply looking for a unique family day out, Paws on the Platform promises plenty of fun, entertainment and pawsitive memories for everyone.

Hauled by our 105 year-old steam locomotive No.3BG "Guinness", there will be short steam train rides available within our premises using our heritage carriages. You will be transported to a bygone era! Tickets also include full access to our 5 gallery museum.

Our café will be open for hot and cold food and refreshments. And while you relax with a hot drink, your furry friend can enjoy a puppacino!

Friday evening track-trailers were working long and difficult trails, mostly double blinds so we could concentrate on reading the dogs without even unintentionally influencing the outcome. We had markers on the footfall to confirm the dogs were sticking to the track. Teams Eddie, Alfie, Poppy, Kenzie and Tilly worked their socks off at this stunning location, well done!!
I have to apologise as muggins here messed up the settings of some of the videos, you might get a little dizzy watching some of the snippets 🤣

Week 4 of our Thursday Scent Detection Beginners course and LOOK AT these 4 stars in the making! Can't believe how brilliant they are already and can't wait to progress these talents. Teams Vida, Hudson, Connie and Hugo.

New course starting 18th June 7.15pm to 8.15pm for Beginner Teams, no previous experience needed.
This course will be held in cooperation with Paw Prints NI
