🐾 Meet Our Wonderful Groomer Leah! – The Heart Behind EVVRPaws Grooming 💙
As we get closer to opening our doors, we'd love for you to meet the wonderful groomer who'll be caring for your four-legged family members. 🐶✂️
👋 Tell us a little about yourself...
"Hi! I'm 22 years old and I'm from Newry. I've always loved animals. Growing up, I was actually more of a cat person... until I started working in Jollyes. That's when I discovered my passion for dogs, and I've never looked back!"
✂️ How long have you been grooming?
"I'm coming up on five years of dog grooming this September, and I've loved every minute of it."
❤️ What inspired you to become a dog groomer?
"I started working as a Sales Assistant in Jollyes when I was 17. After finishing college, I wasn't sure what career I wanted to pursue. My manager asked if I'd like to try dog grooming, and from my very first day I absolutely loved it. I knew straight away it was what I was meant to do."
🐶 What's your favourite part of the job?
"Knowing how much trust the dogs place in me. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing a nervous or anxious dog slowly grow in confidence and learn that they're safe with me. Building that trust means everything." ❤️
🎓 Tell us about your training...
"I completed my training while working at Jollyes, learning hands-on by grooming dogs every single day. Early on, I found myself thrown in at the deep end, which helped me develop my skills quickly. By the age of 18, I had become the grooming salon manager, and the rest is history!"
🐕 Do you have a favourite breed to groom?
"I don't really have a favourite breed—it depends more on each dog's personality! But I definitely have a soft spot for the senior dogs. They always have a special place in my heart." 🥹
😂 What's the funniest thing that's happened while grooming?
"One day, a colleague and I were drying the back end of a little dog when it suddenly decided to have diarrhoea... With the dryer blowing, it went EVERYWHERE! 🤣 It was one of those moments where if we didn't laugh, we'd have cried!"
💙 What's one thing you'd like every dog owner to know?
"Everything we do is with your dog's wellbeing in mind. Regular grooming isn't just about keeping them looking good—it's essential for maintaining a healthy coat and keeping them comfortable. Staying on top of grooming makes the experience much kinder and less stressful for your dog, and that's always our priority."
