methods...
We only used kind, effective methods to teach your dog manners. Positive reinforcement and motivation is used to help your dog choose to carry out required tasks. The higher the value of the reward (food/play/love) to your dog, the more likely he will be to repeat a behaviour (good or bad!) Once we have shaped a desired behaviour we reward randomly to strongly reinforce it. This is the quickest and most enjoyable method for both owner and dog.

🐾 More Gundog Passes for the Monday Mid-Morning Class! 🐾

Congratulations to Lucy & Rollo, Jan & Dash, and Jackie & Fudge on all passing their Level 1 Gundog Test with distinctions! 👏🎓

A special mention has to go to Fudge. This little girl has been quite the challenge at times, but thanks to Jackie’s tireless dedication and consistency, she has come on in leaps and bounds.

We’ve seen improved connection without the long line, more engagement through play in distracting environments, and today she completed two enthusiastic marked retrieves. It’s been wonderful to watch her progress and confidence grow.

Onwards and upwards for this little firecracker! 💥🐾

Well done, Jackie, and congratulations to all of our successful handlers and dogs. 👏

After a lovely week off, it was great to get back to training! 😊

My Monday morning group worked on heel and stays, keeping everything light, positive and fun.

We then moved on to some simple marked retrieves, and the progress was fantastic from everyone. We saw enthusiastic out-runs, clean pick-ups, quick returns and hand deliveries all round. Best of all, the young Labs all chose to return straight to their owners rather than stop for a social catch-up — result! 🎉

To top it off, Freddie and Molly completed their Beginner Test, both passing with flying colours and achieving distinctions all round. 👏🐾

Congratulations to everyone on a brilliant session!

Torvi did a thing and passed her RKC Working Gundog Certificate 🌟

On Saturday we attended the London Working Spaniel Society training day. The day included a training clinic, mock test and assessment for the RKC Working Gundog Certificate.

It was super 🥵 but Torvi coped far better than me — not even breaking into a pant! We stuck to the shade where possible and had lots of dips in the lake (her, not me 😆… although I was jealous!).

Torvi absolutely smashed the exercises. We’ve got lots more swimming experience to build on and came home with some brilliant hunting tips. Her steadiness, retrieves and deliveries were 👌

Thoroughly enjoyed the day — fabulous ground, fantastic trainers and great company.
