On average 456 residential burglaries take place every day across England & Wales.
That’s one house burgled every 189 seconds!

CCTV, secure doors & windows and alarm systems are all good measures and should certainly be utilised to prevent would be thieves & opportunists but these alone are only really a deterrent for amateurs. The professionals who set out to burgle properties are likely prepared and expecting such measures and have still decided to break into such homes often armed and in large numbers to quickly overwhelm and subdue the home owners before they get a chance to contact authorities.

Even if you did manage to dial 999 the average response time for an emergency according to Gwent Police’s own data is roughly on average 21 minutes followed by 1 hour 24 minutes for a priority.

In contrast the average length of time for an armed burglary is typically between 8 and 10 minutes with some incidents lasting as little as 90 seconds.

This is where family protection dogs come in.
A well bred and well trained dog is for the most part going to be a safe & loyal companion to you and your family but then deal with such a situation much more efficiently than a locked door or a ring doorbell ever could and is a far greater deterrent to even professional outfits because nobody wants 42 teeth clamping down on them for any length of time. Dogs give you not only protection but time & the ability to get yourself out of harms way.

Now I’m here to tell you that’s a scam - absolutely no dog is worth that kind of money. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay and because a few celebrities, premier league footballers and now even social media content creators were stupid enough to pay over the odds many companies have popped up with attempts to do the same.

We don’t sell ‘fully trained dogs’ - we help you begin your own journey into owning and training a protection dog. So not only will you own the finished product, you will have been a big part in training and guiding your animal from the beginning.

We carefully source & select puppies for our clients based upon their needs from the best breeders across the United Kingdom and if necessary, the world and you will pay the breeder directly avoiding any possibility of us adding high premiums.
We then have tailored plans & services which will be agreed upon before your puppies arrival to ensure the training begins right away and you receive all the best advice and support going forward.

Is your dog so unmanageable that you cannot attend a conventional training session at our facility?

Do you have specific home related issues that only present themselves in and around the house?

Or maybe due to poor health, you, yourself are unable to travel to our yard.

We’re now offering two home visit related services to provide a solution to these above problems.

Home based assessment (30 mins) - £50

This is exactly the same as our facility based assessment albeit priced a little higher to cover our travel costs & time missed from the yard and is designed to give us an opportunity to meet your dog and give them a hands on character and behavioural assessment so that we can help you strategise and develop a plan for moving forward.

Home based 1-1 session (1 hour)

Similar to our facility based 1-1’s this will be an option for you if your dog displays any unwanted behaviour in and around your home, family & guests and you’ve already had an assessment. We can work on everything from crate training to thresholds, greeting guests to aggression towards strangers.

Introducing stay & train days.

Are you committed to changing your dogs behaviour or teaching them new skills but have such a busy schedule with work & family heading into the new year that you simply don’t have the time to do the endless, multiple repetitions required to get the result you want?

From January we have the solution for you!

With our stay & train service you can drop your dog off in the morning and let us do the work while you continue with your day and then collect them later the same evening after they’ve had a full day of exercise & mental stimulation.

This service will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am - 6pm

Costs vary depending on the dogs age & requirements as shown below

Puppy (up to 12 months) - £25 per day - £80 full 4 days
Adult (general obedience) -£30 per day - £100 full 4 days
Behavioural modification - £50 per day - £150 full 4 days

This is a drop off service

We have space for 6 dogs per day

From Jan 1st we’re reintroducing regular group work.

This will consist of weekly socialisation walks & a monthly group session.

Every Wednesday from 7pm - 8.30pm we will have a socialisation walk where I can be on hand to filter between clients to encourage & support you with your dog throughout the walk - these walks will begin at our facility and we will choose a new route each week, all with their own challenges & distractions to put your continued work to the test. (Everyone is welcome regardless of age or behavioural issues present.)
The cost will be £15

The last Sunday of every month (26th Jan being the first) we will hold a 2 hour group session where we will focus on obedience & behaviour modification in a more structured setting than our socialisation walks.
These sessions will run between 4pm & 6pm.
The cost to attend will be £20

Unlike many group sessions we’ve previously held we won’t be asking for extra money for extra dogs - we just ask that all dogs under one booking are from the same household and that the ratio of dog to handlers is 1:1 unless you have means of crating dogs in your vehicle if you intend on training more than one as an individual due to safety reasons.

We are also open to organising and running group sessions with other trainers and having trainers and decoys down for guest training days on Saturdays and Mondays.
Give us a shout if this is something that interests you - we can run it on a day rate basis or you can charge the clients your own rate - whatever works best for the individual.

From January we will be restructuring how our services work to enable us to help more of you achieve your goals & get the best possible relationship with your four legged companion.

All new customers (and existing if they have a new pack member) will now be able to take advantage of a cheaper & shorter initial session to assess the dog & handler and to make a plan for the training goals & needs of the specific case.

We are also slightly increasing the cost of individual 1-1 sessions but creating more options for saving money through block bookings & package deals.

We will be reintroducing home visits to our services - we’ve steered away from these for the last 18 months but will now have these options available for specific home related issues and cases. General obedience etc will still need to be conducted at our facility.

Starting in the new year we will be restructuring our services, pricing & availability in order to extend the ways in which we can help you and free us from certain bonds that are holding us back from business growth & development.

This is going to include limiting certain services for existing clients only, bringing new services to the table & changing the way our pricing works. This doesn’t necessarily mean things will be more expensive - we are looking more at creating packages that suit different target audiences to ensure we set realistic expectations for desired results along with shorter & cheaper assessment based appointments prior to training commencement.

Keep an eye out for our next post in a couple of weeks time which will detail these changes.

If you would like to book any training or services prior to Jan 1st then everything remains the same even if the training is to begin during 2025.

Any training that is already booked in will of course be honoured.

Often as dog trainers we hear owners stating - “it’s just a puppy - he’ll grow out of it”

A dog is - a predator with 42 teeth who’s sole purpose on this planet is to find their advantage.

Here’s a list of things your dog/puppy will NOT grow out of.

Chewing
Biting
Pulling on the lead
Fear
Making a mess

‘Right’ & ‘Wrong’, ‘Good’ & ‘Bad’ - these are HUMAN constructs that your dog has no perception of and isn’t able to reason with.

When your dog bites you - it isn’t doing it with malice or because it wants to do something to upset you - put that ego down.. all it cares about is gaining its advantage and fulfilling its genetic urges.

Book in now and unlearn all that 💩 that you’ve become conditioned to believing!

KRANK

Another trial for the old boy and another demonstration of how unbelievably solid this dog is!

17 competitors entered Gold class at the 11th annual AVD E.V event.

7 pulled out from the class after watching what it entailed.

Out of the 10 remaining dogs we placed 8th even though we only attempted 2 of the 4 stations.

Krank came to me early December, initially just temporarily but by February I’d absolutely fallen in love with the dog and made the commitment to keep him permanently.

Hopefully this will be the year we finally get to see some baby Kranks on the ground 🤞🏻

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR 1-1 CLIENTS

I would like to ask all clients attending 1-1 sessions or dropping dogs off for training at our yard in Bargoed from this point on to remain in their vehicles until collected to begin their session by myself.

If you aren’t arriving in a vehicle and/or you have to park a distance away from the yard and walk then I kindly ask that you wait further down the lane and don’t loiter outside the gate.

Whilst with most services, early arrival can be appreciated - here at the yard it can make things difficult and in fact on occasion dangerous. If you do arrive early then please remain in your vehicle with your dog.

We train a variety of dogs at the yard for a multitude of issues and requirements - the dog in for training before yourself could be man aggressive, dog aggressive or both and you could be putting yourself and/or your dog at high risk of being involved in an incident if everyone’s crowding around the gate to enter or leave the yard.

If you are unsure whether there’s a dog in the yard then remain in the vehicle and message/call ahead to check.
