Had a lovely small dog session today with Dotty, Luna, and Rolo 🐶

Dotty has recently lost her 2 doggy friends so she has been really struggling. She was nervous at first but really came out of her shell and started to play. Hopefully the session has cheered her up ❤️

Lots of people take their puppies to training classes, and lots of people still end up with anxious dogs, aggressive dogs, over exciteable dogs etc.. This is because they are being taught via what the body does. For example "sit" then reward. But the problem with using this alone is that the mind could still be exciteable/nervous/ overstimulated/on guard.

If you ask your dog to do something with their body and reward, you could still accidentally be rewarding a state of mind that isnt healthy. This is why training the mind is so important for a well balanced, happy dog. 🐶

Train the mind, and the body will follow ❤️

The lovely Angus came for week 2 of training 🥰 Since last week he has learnt lie down, recall going really well, waiting nicely for his dinner, clicker training working a treat! 🐶

This week we have gone over getting him into a calm state of mind, wait mat training, and a little bit of lead training.. and of course he had a go at bubble popping 🫧

Excited to see him next week and hear all about his learning! ❤️

The number 1 cause of behavioural problems in dogs comes from an issue with the dynamic between owner and dog. If the dog does not see you as his/her leader and safe place, the dog will then take on that role.

Depending on the age, confidence, life experience, and breed of that dog, is how they handle taking on that role. The sad thing is that they really dont want to take on that role, and the role is way to much for them. Causing anxiety, aggression, over excited behaviour, lead pulling, seperation anxiety, dog aggression, demanding, barking, resource guarding and so on..

Until this role is reversed, and the dynamic is changed, the behaviour will continue.

Once the dynamic has changed you will have a calm, confident, responsive, loyal, happy companion 🐶

If you dont take the role of being a safe, trustworthy, leader in your puppies life, they will then take on that role. A role that is way too much for them. A role that they arent ready for. A role that they do not know how to handle. 🐶

Getting the dynamic right doesnt involve aggression, shouting, domineering. It also isnt treating them like a human baby. Both create issues because neither communicate in a way a dog understands and communicates. ❤️

This is the route cause of almost every behavioural problem you see in dogs. Not having a safe, confident, calm leader.
