A scorching Spring Bank Holiday weekend is on the way across the UK, so now is the time to take extra care with our pets in the heat. ☀️🐾

Keep these simple tips in mind:

💧Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water (indoors and outdoors if needed)
🌳Stick to shaded areas and avoid walking pets during the hottest parts of the day
🐾 Check pavements before walks — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
⚠️Watch closely for signs of overheating such as heavy panting, drooling or lethargy
🔥Keep activity calm and minimal during peak temperatures

If your pet is overheating or you believe they have heatstroke, act quickly: cool them down immediately and contact your vet without delay.

Remember: “Wet then vet” — cooling comes first, then veterinary help straight away.

🐶 Keep BBQ foods, picnic snacks and drinks safely out of reach
🐱 Make sure gardens, doors and fences are secure if you’re spending more time outdoors
🌿 Be mindful of seasonal plants and flowers that may be harmful to pets
💧 Always provide plenty of fresh water, especially if it turns warmer
🚗 If you’re heading out, plan ahead to ensure your pets are happy and cared for at home
