Hot weather doesn’t just affect dogs. ☀️🐾

Cats can overheat indoors, rabbits can struggle badly in high temperatures, chickens need constant shade and fresh water, and even fish tanks can become dangerously warm.

As a pet sitter, heat checks are part of caring for every animal — not just the ones going for walks. ❤️

Being a pet sitter means putting pets before profit. 🐾☀️

If it’s too hot to safely walk a dog, I’ll shorten or cancel the walk — even if it costs me money. No payment is worth risking burnt paws or heatstroke.

If customers still need their pet visiting then we find safer alternatives: garden time, enrichment games, or indoor cuddles. Their wellbeing always comes first. ❤️

Keeping pets cool in hot weather is so important 🐾☀️

Make sure they always have fresh water, shady places to rest and avoid walks during the hottest part of the day. Cooling mats, frozen treats and paddling pools can also help keep them comfortable and safe in the heat 💚

It was great to see so many people out with their dogs early this morning.

For those of you thinking of walking your dog later in the day, if the pavement is too hot for your hand for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws 🐾☀️

Hot pavements can cause painful burns, blisters and serious discomfort within minutes. Try to walk early morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler and stick to shaded or grassy areas where possible 💚

Early morning walks are the safest walks 🐾☀️
This is the best time to get your dog out before the pavements heat up and the risk of heat stroke rises. If it feels hot to you, it’s even hotter for them. Keep walks early, keep them shaded, and always bring water 💛

When the working day is done, Paddy sits waiting patiently to play…

After a long day of focus and responsibility, even the most disciplined minds need space to unwind.

There’s a quiet lesson to be learned in that.

- You are allowed to switch off.
- You are allowed to step out of ‘doing’ and step into simply being.

Rest and play aren’t rewards you have to earn endlessly, they’re part of staying well.

So when the working day ends, put the weight down - even if just for a little while and if you need some extra help to switch off and unwind, then reach out for help.
