Worried about how your dog will react to meeting someone new?

Not sure if they will like going for walks with someone they dont know?

Does this stop you from getting a dog walker?

Its normal for your dog to be unsure of new people.
They arent going to like everyone and thats okay.

I make sure to take things at the dogs pace. If they want to keep things slow and have a sniff around, thats what we will do.

I want to make sure your dog is comfortable with me so we will work on building trust calmly so that they dont get overwhelmed.

Dont be afraid to reach out. I will work with you and your dog to build trust and a loving relationship.

If that means multiple house visits before going for walks or small garden sessions i'm happy to do that if thats what your dog needs.

Dont let your worries stop you from reaching out. I will always put the dogs needs first and keep you updated every step of the way.

Comment "reach out" and i will send you a message to get the ball rolling 🤗

I would say this is perfect weather, a little bit of cloud, spots of sun, warm but not sweaty 👌🏻

Shady paths with a cool breeze coming off the water 🥰

The doggies enjoying a splash this morning before it gets too hot. The thunder last night was so loud, i hope all the other dogs around handled it okay. While it has definitely cooled things down around cheshire now that the sun is heating up pretty quickly, remember to check the pavements and avoid anything too strenuous with your dogs today!

I hope everyone has been coping okay with the heat. The forecast has been up and down for the next few days so we are playing it by ear. I hope all the pups are being kept cool, avoiding the ridiculously hot pavements and having plenty of refreshments. 💦🌞

Also don't forget about your small friends inside. They feel the heat as well. A little trick I learned to help them is getting a tile or stone slab and putting it in the fridge until it's nice and cold and putting it in their cage so they have somewhere to literally chill. ❄️

Before booking a pet professional.

Some things to consider before booking with a pet professional you have found online or been recommended by someone else.

Check what they offer is what you need. You dont have to compromise, there are plenty of professionals out there who all specialise in different things.

Communication is key! When you speak to them do you understand what they are saying, does it sound like they can offer you what you are looking for?

Trust. This person has to be able to come into your home not only where your pets are but where everything else you own is. Do you trust them to be in your home and look after your pet and your things? They will most likely need to be trusted with a key or code to get into your home. Have they got somewhere to keep these things safe?

Experience. While it is important that they have some experience your individual pet might not be the same as others. Can they follow the instructions you set out for them? If you have an unusual pet that they arent familiar with, are they willing to learn about them in order to care for them?

I have experience with a variety of animals, dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, gerbils, fish and geese, these are all animals that I have owned or worked with in the past. If you have something else I am always willing to listen to you and your pets needs and do my own research so I know what im looking after and things to look out for.

I understand what it means to have someone else come into your home and care for your pets, its a huge undertaking and you need someone you can rely on and trust. I know I can be that person.

If youre looking for a pet professional with clear communication and love for all animals then you're in the right place.

Will not be doing walks in the hot weather. I will offer super early walks to avoid the heat or home visits. It's just not worth the risk to the dog. I'm happy to come to your home and spend a full hour with them so they still get a break from being alone and to make sure they have things to cool down and go to the toilet.

Heat stroke in dogs is scary, it's difficult to deal with and it's easy to avoid! Keep them inside and cool if it's too hot to go out. Your dog may be a little over excited or bored stuck at home but it's better than a trip to the vets!

Signs of heat stroke:
🥵Heavy panting
🫪Thick/sticky saliva
💦Excessive drooling
🤢🤮Vomiting/diarrhea
🐌Slowing down/lethargic
👅Changes in the colour of their tongue/gums (take a look at your dogs mouth now to check what their normal mouth colour is)

Are you feeling overwhelmed with your dog?

Too many things you need to tackle but you dont know where to start?

Furniture chewing?
Lead pulling?
Barking at other dogs?
Picking up everything they arent supposed to?

Its okay, you dont need to tackle all of these issues at once. Take them step by step.

Everything is easier when you break it down into smaller parts. Pick one and once you have that one a bit more undercontrol then you can move onto the next one.

Its never too late to work on things that frustrate you and dogs are much more clever than we think. Give them time and approach things calmly and you will start to see results.

As a dog walker I am used to dealing with all sorts of behaviours when out and about. I try to plan my walks to make sure any difficult ones are easier to manage.

Sometimes just a simple walk with someone different could be all you need to help start the journey to a happier calmer dog.

Walks created just for your dog. Not a quick run around the block before or after work. A walk made just for the dog where they can burn off some excess energy and get some enrichment and mental stimulation hopefully helping them to be calmer at home. Then you can get those frustrating little habbits under control.

We all know life gets busy and it can feel difficult especially when you want to work on training but the dog is full of energy and the training just becomes frustrating for both of you. With a walk in the day to get rid of some of that excitement it could make it easier to focus on other things when you get home.

If you need help, drop me a message and we can set up a free meet and greet to see what we can do together.

What are your thoughts on group walks?

I think it all depends on the dogs and their individual needs and personalities.

Matching them up and making sure they all get along can be a challenge. I always try to make sure they get the best from every walk. If that means a slower pace or smaller group then that's what they will get.

If I have any concerns or things aren't working, you will be the first to know. Then we can make sure the dogs are the priority and are getting what they need.

If you're unsure about what your dog needs I'm here to help. I can come and meet you and your dog for free, no obligation at all. We can discuss your dog and make a plan to make sure they are fulfilled and happy.
