After such a busy day today we almost forgot to say a big happy birthday to my angel Lucius, he passed away 4 years ago now but today would have been his 10th birthday! I wish he was here celebrating with us but it wasn't to be. He passed away just before his 6th birthday from a sudden onset pancreatitis which turned into sepsis overnight. He was a poorly boy like our wonky frog, had many behavioral issues like or scaredy cat Baloo. We always joke he was just too special of a dog to have again so he sent us 2 puppies to split his soul into. He loved the snow, loved his walkies and his hydrotherapy for his wonky hips. He absolutely LOVED going to the vets, we used to joke he was only ever poorly so he could have his cuddles at the vets. We had lots of ups and downs with him, nearly lost him so many times due to his illnesses. He was the best dog we could have ever asked for, he taught us so much, he taught me a lot about training a reactive dog, how to deal with his many many health issues and of course most importantly, how to live life to the fullest, to take any opportunity that arises because it may not come again. Lucius, 5 years was not enough time but i know you are living through Baloo and Frog every single day (Especially baloo, I know you tell her all your bad habits 🤣 like howling at 3am in your sleep she does this too!!) and I hope that when their turn comes to say goodbye you will look after them and be their best friend (especially Baloo I know for sure if you were here you two would be best friends!)

Happy Birthday Lucius! We miss you my sweet boy🥰

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.
They’re doing far more than just washing the dog.

A recent update on mr Froggy, were hoping for some good news for the little man🤞🥹

A more up to date update on Mr Frog:

He had knee surgery 5 weeks ago, everything went well at the time and he was doing really well until a week ago. We noticed his knee was beginning to slip out again 😔

At the same time, he had also chipped one tooth and broken another (we have no idea how, but we assume it was when we caught him trying to chew his bowl) so off to the vets he went 🤦‍♀️

At his vet appointment, we were told his tooth definitely needed to come out, but also that they weren't too happy with how his knee felt on examination, so he would need x-rays while he's having his tooth out so we can see how things are healing.

So hes booked for the 23rd of April for a tooth extraction and x-rays on his knee and hip on the same leg, one of the worries with frog was that if we sorted his knee, that his hip may cause problems, with how wonky his legs are. So we're just making sure his hip is ok too, although we already know he has hip dysplasia in both hips, so we will be able to see hopefully if everything is still the same, or if there are any changes since his last x-ray.

As always, Mr Froggy is always causing mischief, and unfortunately, things are never super straightforward with him🥲 As soon as we have another update, we will post here to keep you all informed.

Alba and lola came in today for their pampers 😍 what angels they both were 😁 they were so excited to go home we didn't manage a nice photo with the backdrop, but I did snap this beautiful picture of them both chilling on the floor, lola asleep on the blanket and alba all stretched out, happy that her groom is all finished 😍
