Happy Easter everyone 🐣🐇🥚🍫
I hope you are all going to be able to enjoy the long bank holiday weekend 😄
I'm making the most of it with lots of walks, playing in the garden, and doggy chocolate 😋
The only thing I don't like about Easter is being dressed up as the Easter bunny ☹️ especially with pink accessories 😠.
Mum says I look cute 🥰 but I think I look like a fool 🙈 but I'll humour her if it gets me more treats 😁
I also wanted to let you know that the shop is open as usual today and tomorrow and then we will be closed until Tuesday.
Whatever you do this weekend have a great time and, hopefully, you'll get lots of Easter eggs to enjoy.

Happy National Pet day 🐕😺🐇🐤🦆🐖🐑
I hope you are all celebrating everything pet ❤️ 🎊
We all know that a pet is good for you, it can ease stress, reduce anxiety and depression, help with loneliness, and encourage exercise. Not to mention the unconditional love that we give ❤️❤️❤️❤️
In other words, we pets are awesome 👍😄
Talking of love 💕 we are so overwhelmed by all the lovely people who have congratulated us on our 10th birthday and said such nice things about us, it definitely makes it all worthwhile 👏👏
Special mention must go to the fantastic team at Derwent Valley Vets who sent us a lovely gift, balloon, and card to help us celebrate. We can't thank you enough for your support 🙏 over the years

Woohoo 🙌🎉 it's our 10th birthday on Monday 🎂🎈🎊🎁 can you believe it? We can't!!!
Mum and dad said it only seems like yesterday when they took over from John and didn't have a clue where anything was or how the till worked 😂
Well, look at us now 👍😄 we sometimes know where things are and we've just about mastered the till 😆🤣
The one thing that hasn't changed in 10 years is you, all our lovely friends and customers 😍 you are the constant in our little pet shop world and we are so grateful to all of you for sticking with us through the years.
And what a few years it has been, we've had floods (too many!!!) COVID, and losing Grandma Pat 😢 but we've also had some fantastic times when you all offered us help and support in our bad times, popped in to chat (because you were dragged in by the dog 🐕😂), supported us on Macmillan coffee mornings and most importantly became our friends 🙌.
Here's to the next 10 years and more friends 🥂🍻🤗

Well, it's a busy weekend coming up!! Not only is it Mother's day on Sunday but we change the clocks and we spring forward, 🙌 lighter nights coming.
So, firstly, let's talk about Mother's Day, I've been looking at getting my mum a new bird table, or bird house and, maybe, some of our lovely plants 💐🌺. I think that will get me some big brownie points 😁 and, once the clocks go forward, we'll be able to spend more time in the garden waiting for the birds to use the bird table and then I can also help with the gardening, I do love digging 😉🕳️ 🧑‍🌾.

Happy Friday everyone 😄 I'd like to officially welcome you to spring 🌼
This has made me smile this week and when I was grinning in the mirror 🪞 I noticed just how pearly white my teeth were 😬
This has got to be down to all the natural treats that I eat 😋. Lots of products such as antlers, trachea, pig's ears, roasted bones, chickens feet all contribute to good dental health as the texture helps to scrape away plaque and dislodge any trapped food it also encourages more saliva which can help flush out food and bacteria.
Obviously you should also be cleaning teeth with a brush and toothpaste and visiting the vets for regular dental check ups. But I must admit, eating the treats is the best way for me 😂
Anyway, I must go now and try a few more treats to keep my gnashers gleaming 🦷🦷🦷 I need to make sure they are as good as Archie's, and he's 12 and still blinds me when he smiles 😄

🚨 Watch Out Wednesday! 🚨

This week, we're shining a spotlight on Inhalers—a common tool used by many in the UK to help manage asthma symptoms.

Inhalers typically contain either a steroid or a drug that helps open the airways. Some contain both! So, what happens if your dog chews or punctures an asthma inhaler?

⚠️ What You Need to Know:

1️⃣ Pressurised Containers = Burns
Puncturing an inhaler can release pressurised gas that could cause a "frost-bite" burn in your dog’s mouth. Keep an eye out for soreness, redness, drooling, difficulty eating, or breathing, and any signs of discomfort in the next 24 hours.

2️⃣ Salbutamol Inhalers (Blue) = Poisoning Risk
If your dog bites a Salbutamol Inhaler, you may notice vomiting, lethargy, panting, restlessness, shaking, or even an irregular heartbeat. Serious symptoms could include wobbly movements, weakness, and changes in heart rate.

❗️Please contact us urgently if you think that your pet has gained access to either type of inhaler❗️

👉 Tip: Be careful if your inhaler is kept in your handbag – this is a common place for a dog to find one and always be wary of inhalers discarded outside (e.g. in parks).

Baby Animals in Spring

The sun is shining, ☀️ skies are blue,
Spring is here with things to do!
Little babies everywhere,
Popping out to sniff the air.
Fluffy lambs 🐑 go bounce, bounce, BOUNCE!
Chasing tails as they pounce.
Tiny bunnies 🐇 wiggle noses,
Hiding where the clover grows-es!
Baby ducks 🦆 go quack, quack, QUACK!
Waddle, swim, then hurry back!
Wiggly worms peek from the ground,
Buzzing bees 🐝 fly all around.
All the world is bright and new,
Full of fun for me and you!
Springtime babies laugh and play,
Hooray! Hooray! It’s spring today!
I'm a poet and I didn't know it 🤗

Happy Sunday, hope you're all having a great weekend.
I've been glued to the telly watching Crufts 📺🐕🐩 and it's been brilliant. I especially love the flyball and the agility. The ones that go wrong are so funny 😂 and the enthusiasm from some of the contestants is infectious (especially a little Jack Russell called Furgus 😁)
I've started planning how to turn the garden into an agility and flyball course. I've not mentioned it to mum and dad yet, but I'm sure they'll be fine about it, who needs plants anyway 🤣.
I'm off out for a walk now so I can get back to watch Best in Show, maybe I'll enter next year 🤔 what do you think, let me know, love Ernie xx

OK, stop everything because I've got big news 🗣️
It's my birthday tomorrow 🎈🎁🎂🎉😄 and I'm going to be 4 (that's so old!!!) I suppose that means I'll be slowing down in my old age 🤣😂
Mum, dad, and Archie have told me they've got a special day planned for me, I'm hoping for a long walk in the woods followed by some new toys, treats, and maybe some birthday cake 😋(if I'm lucky 🤞)
I think I'll go and find my party outfit out just incase they've organised a surprise party 🥳 I hope so because that means more presents, party food and party games 🤗
I'll let you know what happens 👍

Woohoo 🙌, spring has sprung 🌷🌸🌻🌞 and the sun is shining
I can't believe it's February, feels more like May.
I don't know about you but it's made me want to get out in the garden and potter 🧑‍🌾 I've been weeding (at least I hope they were weeds 🙈, I'm sure mum will let me know 😬) and getting the planters ready for some spring colour.
Luckily we've had lots of spring plants delivered this week, we've got herbs, primulas, bulbs, and lots of other flowers (that I don't know the names of 🤷‍♂️😅) but they are all very pretty, colourful, and cheap
So if you want to brighten up your garden come and have a look, I promise I won't take them all

Evening all, sorry for the late post but I've had a very busy weekend preparing for my brother Archie's birthday 🥳🎂
He's going to be 12 on Wednesday 😲 not that he looks it, must be all the good food and natural treats he eats ☺️ (all from the shop of course 😁)
So, I've made him a liver cake, some marmite biscuits, and cheesy nibbles 😋
I've blown up all the balloons 🎈🎈, although I did lose the plot and chase a few and pop them 🙈, mum was getting a bit stressed by this point so I'll do the rest on Wednesday morning 👍
I've also got him some nice natural treats for his present, cow's ears (good for worming), pork rolls, and lambs legs ( both good for digestion and natural teeth cleaning, not that he needs it, he's got lovely gnashers 🪥😬)
I've also been through the photo albums and found some pictures of him as a puppy, wasn't he gorgeous 🤩🥰, and my mum's favourite photo of him and my bigger brother Hector 🥺🥰
Right, just enough time to wrap the pass the parcel 📦 before bed 👍 love Ernie xx

Hello, happy Sunday ☺️ it's a bit grumpy and miserable outside ☁️🥶, and apart from a lovely walk in the woods this morning I've stayed inside where it's warm and I've been trying to snooze in front of the log burner.
Unfortunately mum and dad have been on the go all day disturbing my snoozing 😴 with the vacuum cleaner, the polish and duster, and up and downstairs with baskets of washing, and even emptying the dishwasher very noisily.
I haven't had a minute's peace !!! 😔
This has given me time to look online at some of our suppliers as I've had a few people ask me about a new dog collar they've heard about.
Anyway, I found it. It's the Ancol Extreme+ collar with grab handle. It comes in 2 sizes, M (40-46cm) and L (46-54cm). It's super strong with a weave design and the metal clasp is very sturdy, and it's padded with neoprene for comfort.
The grab handle is great for easy control and a quick grab in an emergency.
I've ordered a few in and I'm sure my mum will get me one and call me her new designer handbag 👜😂😂
Right, looks like the parents have finished rushing around, I might just get some sleep now 🛏️😴

Happy Saturday everyone ☺️ hope you're all enjoying the weekend now that the 827 days of January are gone!!!
I've had another busy week at the shop moving all the dog beds 🐶🛏️ downstairs into the new location for Ernie's Bed Room, (the warehouse). We'd found that the stairs were a bit of a problem for some customers, meaning that not everyone could get to see our full range of beds so we thought it would be better to keep it all on the ground floor.
This has meant a lot of up and down the stairs for me this week, I think I've worn a groove in them 🤣. Anyway, I've managed to get them all on display downstairs and you are all welcome to visit my new Bed Room 👍 there's still as much choice as before and I can say they are all comfy (I may have had a quick nap 😴 in some of them after all my hard work 🤭)
I'm also looking forward to seeing who will be taking over the upstairs room 🤔, I've been told it's something exciting so watch this space
