🐾 Why we don't clip off double coats
Groomers avoid clipping double-coated dogs (like Huskies, Golden Retrievers, or Border Collies) because their coats are designed to protect them year-round. The outer coat repels dirt and moisture, while the undercoat insulates against heat and cold. Shaving can damage this natural system, potentially causing the coat to grow back unevenly—or not at all. It can also make dogs hotter, not cooler, and increase sunburn risk. Instead of shaving, regular brushing and deshedding treatments help manage shedding while keeping the coat healthy and functional. Obviously there will always be exceptions to this for example particular health needs where the dogs comfort is priority. 🐾
