I’ve been lucky enough to swim with this delightfully grumpy old girl since July 2025. Some days she’s all tail‑propeller enthusiasm, and other days she’d quite like to float and be chauffeured around — and honestly, both suit her perfectly. She’s now hit her target weight, her mobility has improved so much, and her muscle mass is fantastic. She’s absolutely smashing it for a 12‑year‑old. What can I say about this beautiful‑souled boy. Ginge has faced more in his short life than most dogs ever should, but everything changed the day he found his two incredible foster parents — now his forever family.
He lives with degenerative bone disease, and I’ve been swimming him since August 2025. With time, patience, and a whole lot of heart, he’s become a truly spectacular dog.
In the last six weeks he’s smashed every goal: overcoming his fear of water, jumping in all by himself, and now even fetching a ball and bringing it back.
This darling boy keeps rewriting his own story with courage and joy. Have the best time motor homing this weekend, Ginge — you’ve earned every moment. If you are interested in your dog starting a hydro journey please contact Irene on 07513371149

What can I say about these adorable Spaniel sisters, Mable and Willow? Talk about chalk and cheese — their personalities couldn’t be more different!
Mable is our mischievous little whirlwind, while Willow has the sweetest serious face you’ve ever seen. Both girls come for hydrotherapy: Mable following her cruciate ligament repair, and Willow for conditioning and strength building.
Mable is more than happy to take on independent swimming, while Willow prefers that extra bit of support. They both swim beautifully, and each week they’re boosting their cardiovascular fitness, building muscle, and getting that all‑important mental stimulation. Today I had the pleasure of dog sitting the lovely Koko while my brother and sister-in-law enjoyed a day in York. She was such a good little girl while I studied this morning, so naturally she earned a swim session to burn off some energy afterwards! 🐾💦

Koko has been swimming since she was just 15 weeks old, and it’s amazing to see the confidence and fitness she’s built over time. Swimming is not only fantastic mental stimulation for dogs, but it also helps strengthen muscles, improve cardiovascular fitness, and provide a fun low-impact workout. Safe to say Koko absolutely loves it! 🐶🏊‍♀️

Tip of the Week: Understanding your dog’s normal posture is one of the simplest ways to protect their long‑term health. When you know what “normal” looks like, you can spot subtle changes early — often before pain or mobility issues develop. Early detection can prevent discomfort and reduce the risk of costly veterinary treatment.

This lovely young Labrador attends hydrotherapy twice weekly to help manage his grade 4 elbow dysplasia. Our focus has been on strengthening his shoulder musculature to improve joint support and reduce stress on the elbows. George has been swimming with us since August 2025, and his progress has been fantastic — he now manages his condition comfortably without pain medication, and surgery is not anticipated in the near future. He arrives full of excitement, loves playing in the water, and channels his young‑adult energy beautifully during his sessions. His only remaining challenge is learning a little more about personal space, but we wouldn’t have him any other way.

The lovely father–daughter duo were in for their weekly swim today!
Marley may only have three legs, but he’s smashing his strength‑building work — he started in a life jacket and now swims confidently without it. He still pretends he “doesn’t like” swimming… yet somehow he’s now jumping in all by himself.
Kaya, on the other hand, arrives singing her signature Husky song before she’s even out of the car. With suspected hip dysplasia, we’re focusing on building her hindlimb and hip strength — and she brings plenty of playfulness and mischief to every session. The lovely Milo came in for his mobility and fitness session yesterday, full of his usual charm. Milo first joined us as a tiny 16‑week‑old pup to help build muscle around his growing joints and to get some early non‑weight‑bearing exercise under his belt. Fast‑forward to his first birthday, and he’s still visiting every fortnight — and absolutely loves it. He launches himself into the pool with total enthusiasm and swims with real confidence.
Now that his rapid growth phase is slowing down, we’re shifting our focus to building muscle strength to support him as he matures. We also spent time reviewing his nutrition, making sure he’s on the right food for his age, activity level and development. Alongside that, we introduced some stimulation exercises to keep his brain busy and support his mental wellbeing.
Milo is growing into a strong, happy, well‑balanced boy — and he’s an absolute joy to work with. For more information please contact Irene at Sherwood fun fitness and mobility swimming 07513371149
