To establish an independent Veterinary Ombudsman to provide a fair, impartial system for handling complaints about veterinary care. The service should be able to investigate cases, make binding decisions, and ensure accountability across all vet practices.

Tip of the week, we know dog's love to chase a ball but it can cause injury, encourage your dog to do some sniffing instead to engage the parasympathetic nervous system which will lower stress, regulate emotion's, it is cognitive enrichment, problem-solving, confidence building and helps them to communicate

Clio is our lovely older lady who arrives each week for her mobility swim with all the confidence of a seasoned adventurer. With her mischievous personality and love for woodland escapades — especially anywhere foxes and badgers might be hiding — she trots straight across the car park for cuddles before heading into the pool. She’ll happily complete a couple of swims, then immediately decide it’s time to go home, giving her signature “attitude face” when encouraged to continue. With gentle supported swimming and plenty of praise, Clio reluctantly agrees to carry on, showing off her charming blend of sass and sweetness. She’s full of fun, full of character, and once her session is done, she’s equally happy to curl up for one of her well‑earned naps.

✨ What can I say about the lovely Bella?
She’s been visiting me for quite some time now, and every single session she arrives with that beautiful, gentle soul of hers. Bella absolutely loves coming to the centre — especially for her kisses and cuddles — but swimming? Well… that’s a very different story.

Because Bella was born blind, she experiences the world in her own unique way, so her hydrotherapy sessions follow a special approach designed just for her. She prefers to swim only in a small, cosy section of the pool — the full size can feel overwhelming, and we always respect her comfort zone. And of course, Bella has her favourite poolside hobby: drinking the pool water. We have regular “human–dog conversations” about why that’s not the best idea, but she still tries her luck every time.

Bella is a truly wonderful girl — full of affection, charm, and personality. She may not be the biggest fan of swimming, but she certainly makes every session memorable with her cuddles, quirks, and heart‑melting sweetness. 🌟

☀️ A little sunshine advice!
Most dogs adore stretching out in the sun — and who can blame them? But too much heat can quickly lead to heatstroke, which is dangerous and can become life‑threatening.

If your dog starts showing signs such as excessive panting, drooling, a fast heartbeat, or dehydration, it’s time to act fast. Bring them indoors right away — a cooling mat and cold water alone won’t be enough. The room itself needs to be cooler than your dog’s body temperature to help their vital signs return to normal.

Heatstroke can progress rapidly, so keep an eye on your sun‑seekers and make sure their chill‑out spot is safe and shady. Let’s keep those tails wagging happily — not overheated! 🐾

✨ The lovely Bambi has just wrapped up her 10‑week mobility and fitness programme — and what a journey it’s been.

On her very first visit, she was unsure, a little worried, and needed her dad right there in the pool with her. Week by week, as her confidence grew, she blossomed. The life jacket came off, she stopped needing her dad beside her, and her trust in the water — and in herself — began to shine.

By her final session, Bambi hopped out of the car, marched straight into the pool, and got swimming all on her own. She moves with such finesse now — slow, controlled, and completely in the moment, like she’s savouring every second. Her soulful eyes tell the whole story as she glides through the water, taking you along for the ride.

I’m so proud of her progress and wish her all the best as she continues her swimming journey. She’s a little superstar. 🌟

Something a little different for today…
Help your dog stay cool and mentally stimulated with an Ice‑Cream Licky Bone! I’ve ordered 10, so it’s first come, first served. They’re £7 each.

In mine, I’ve layered:

1 teaspoon of dog‑safe peanut butter

A handful of blueberries

A squeeze of fruity baby food

A topping of 0% fat Greek yogurt

Finished with a sprinkle of grated dog pâté

Pop it straight into the freezer and you’ve got a brilliant enrichment treat ready to go.

These licky bones offer something different to a standard Kong. The slow licking provides self‑soothing, mental engagement, and is excellent for hot, frustrated, or easily overstimulated dogs. A simple, cooling enrichment idea that supports calm behaviour and keeps them happy on warm days.

If you’d like one, just let me know — they won’t last long!

This incredible girl has overcome more in her young life than most dogs ever will, and she still greets the world with a sparkle that inspires me to be the best version of myself every single day. Her personality is a gorgeous mix of cheeky, fun, and utterly loveable — with that wonderfully vocal side that makes her completely unique.

Shadow’s journey hasn’t been easy. From being born in a rabbit hole, to travelling all the way to England to start her new life, to then facing the trauma of being hit by a car and undergoing serious, intensive surgery… yet her spirit has never dimmed. Her thirst for life is unstoppable.

She comes swimming for rehabilitation, but also because she truly loves it — and she moves through the water with such grace and elegance that it’s impossible not to smile. Shadow is the definition of resilience, joy, and heart. A true inspiration in every sense.

What can I say about these two little mischief makers? Bobby and Marty have been coming for hydrotherapy since August 2025, when they were just six months old. Bobby confidently enters the pool and swims independently, whereas Marty is more hesitant and requires continuous support They’re full of fun, full of character, and each brings their own unique personality to every session. They arrive every week with tails wagging, ready to get stuck in — and they’ve recently started land based training, where they’re absolutely excelling.
