🌍✈️ Out of Office Until 8th July! 🐾🇬🇧

I'm currently away on holiday and once again proudly representing Team GB as Team Captain at the Universal Sieger World Championships, in Hanau Germany 🇩🇪 🎉

I'll be back in the ring handling Fly in the showing element of the competition and can’t wait to see what this year brings. 🐶✨

I'll do my best to keep everyone updated on Team GB’s progress throughout the event and will reply to messages when I can.

Let’s go Team GB! 💪🇬🇧

When training is early mornings and late evenings due to the hot weather ☀️ 🌡️ it would be rude to not have a little sun bathe and a beer 🍺

🧊 1. Hydration is Key
Always provide fresh, cool water. Consider multiple water bowls around the house and yard.
Add ice cubes to their water for extra cooling.

🏠 2. Keep Them Indoors During Peak Heat
Avoid walks or playtime between 10 AM and 4 PM.
Keep dogs in shaded or air-conditioned areas during the hottest part of the day.

🚶‍♂️ 3. Walk Smart
Walk early in the morning or late evening.
Check the pavement: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
Use booties or paw wax if walking on hot surfaces is unavoidable.

🌬️ 4. Cool Down with Fans or Cooling Mats
Provide a fan in their favorite resting area.
Use cooling mats, damp towels, or elevated beds to help airflow.
Offer a kiddie pool or sprinkler for water play.

🍦 5. Frozen Treats
Make DIY dog popsicles using frozen broth, peanut butter, or fruit (like watermelon or blueberries).
Stuff and freeze a KONG toy with yogurt or dog-safe purees.

✂️ 6. Proper Grooming
Brush regularly to remove excess fur.
Avoid shaving double-coated breeds, as their fur helps regulate temperature.

🚗 7. Never Leave Them in a Parked Car
Even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside cars can soar within minutes—this is extremely dangerous and can be fatal.

🧼 8. Cool Baths or Mist Spray
Give them a cool (not cold) bath to lower their body temperature.
Lightly mist them with water using a spray bottle (some dogs love this!).

⚠️ 9. Know Signs of Heatstroke
Excessive panting or drooling
Lethargy or uncoordinated movements
Vomiting or diarrhea
Red gums or tongue

If you suspect heatstroke, move the dog to a cooler area, offer water, and contact a vet immediately.

🐾 The Dangerous Dogs Act – It’s Not Just About “Dangerous Breeds” 🐾

There’s a common misconception that the Dangerous Dogs Act only targets certain breeds or dogs that have already bitten someone.

The truth is: this law applies to ANY dog—regardless of breed, size, or history.

👉 Under the Act, a dog doesn’t need to bite to be deemed "dangerously out of control." If a dog causes fear or apprehension, it could be enough to lead to serious consequences for both the dog and the owner.🐶

That means: A tiny terrier growling at a passerby can be treated the same as a larger breed. An excitable dog jumping up can cause someone to feel threatened—even if they meant no harm.

‼️ No breed is exempt. ‼️

Yes, some breeds are specifically banned, but any dog of any breed can be prosecuted under the law.

⚖️ Why does this matter? As responsible owners, it’s not just about how we perceive our dogs—it’s about how they behave in public and how others perceive them.

Training, socialization, and responsible control aren’t optional. They’re essential.Let’s shift the focus from breed blame to responsible ownership. 💡📢 Know your responsibilities. Protect your dog. Protect others.
