‘Dog on a log’ just a cute photo trend right? Wrong!

There are so many benefits

•Builds their confidence by practising on new and sometimes uneven surfaces (just like standing on the vet scales!).

• Your dog has to focus on you while balancing, waiting for the photo to be taken and for their reward to be delivered.

• In group walks, it teaches impulse control and turn taking, those not actively participating are waiting patiently, not pushing in or trying to sn**ch the treat while they wait for their turn.

Hi, I’m CJ👋 and I’m the person behind Sit Stay Paws

I don’t believe in “just walking” dogs — every walk is a chance to practise real-life skills like recall, engagement neutrality and good manners, and get your dogs brain working as well as their paws.

✅ Group walks are kept small and are carefully matched so dogs feel safe and happy.
✅ Travel to and from our walk is in my crated, air-conditioned van — secure, climate controlled, comfy and fully kitted out.
✅ Dogs get both exercise and mental stimulation (because a tired brain = a happy dog 🐾).

If you’re in Clipstone or Forest Town and your dog is sociable, mostly reliable off-lead and loves learning as much as running, they could be the perfect fit for my group walks.

This picture of Bentley came up on my ‘memories’ on my phone today, I don’t remember when I took it but it’s too scrumptious not to share….

He’s been walking with me since he was just a puppy, and it’s such a honour to be part of his journey as he’s grown.

One of the best bits of this life as a dogwalker (because it is more than just a job) is learning all their little quirks, their favourite games, the things that make them feel safe, even the look they give you before they execute mad zoomies 🐾

It’s a bond way stronger than I ever expected 🥰

Engagement isn’t just a fancy training word — it’s the glue between you and your dog that makes walks safer, easier, and way more fun 🐾

Here’s a super quick game you can play on your walks ⬇️

👉 Use a cue like ‘this way’ and immediately walk briskly in the opposite direction.
👉 The second your dog catches up, reward them (bonus points if you make it fun with a tasty snack or a silly cheer 🎉).

Why bother?
✔️ Builds your dog’s focus around distractions
✔️ Keeps recall sharp without nagging
✔️ Turns you into the most interesting thing on the walk (sorry squirrels 🐿️)
✔️ Helps your dog learn that checking in with you = good things happen

Well… it’s official. My shorts are packed away and the waterproofs are out 🌧️🐾

Rainy season = muddy dogs who think woodland puddles are the best invention ever. To help me get them as warm and dry as possible at drop-off, please leave a towel and/or coat out on walk days. I do carry towels in the van, but an extra one at home is always a lifesaver.

Bad weather also means I might be running a little slower — turns out it takes a while to wrestle mud out of fur (especially when your dog thinks it’s a spa treatment 💚).

And if you’re not sure whether your pup would benefit from a coat, just ask — I’m always happy to help with recommendations and sizing.

Plus, it makes me their absolute favourite human (funny that 😏).Adventures, social time, and plenty of tasty rewards — that’s what pack life is all about 💚🐾

I absolutely adore what I do 🥰 The clients are incredible, their humans are just as fantastic, and I feel so lucky to call this my job.

But… as you’ve probably noticed from my posting schedule (or lack of one 🙈) — advertising and self-promotion give me the ick. It’s not my favourite part of running a business!

That’s why today, I’m letting my wonderful group walking clients humans do the talking for me 🐾 Their kind words mean the world and I’m forever grateful for the support, trust, and love they show — not just to me, but to the work I put into their dogs.
