Breed of the Month: Pug ✨🐾

Small in size but big in personality – Pug's are full of charm, character and cheeky energy.

Known for their wrinkly faces and playful nature, Pugs are true companions. They love being around people, thrive on attention and are just as happy curled up on the sofa as they are showing off their silly side.

Why we love Pugs:

• Affectionate and full of personality
• Great for apartment living
• Guaranteed to make you laugh

🦴 Top tip: Pugs can be prone to overheating, so keep walks shorter in warm weather and make sure they’ve always got a cool place to relax.

Spring Safety Tips for Your Pup🌸

We are finally in spring and longer days and warmer evenings are finally upon us, so here’s your friendly reminder to keep an eye out for a few seasonal hazards:

🌷 Toxic spring plants – daffodils, tulips and bluebells can be harmful if ingested
🍔 Discarded food in parks – tempting, but often unsafe for curious pups
🤧 Seasonal allergies – watch for itching, sneezing or watery eyes
🐾 Muddy paws – yes… they’re back (stock up on towels!)

Spring is a great time to get outside and explore, just a few extra checks can keep your dog happy, healthy and safe.

February Training Goals 🐾

This February let’s focus on fun, achievable skills to help your pup stay happy, healthy, and well-behaved!

Some great skills to work on this month could be:

Loose lead walking – make walks calmer and more enjoyable for both you and your dog

Recall – practice coming when called for safety and confidence

Enrichment games – stimulate their mind with puzzle toys, hide-and-seek, or treat challenges

💡 Tips for success:

Keep sessions short and positive - 5–10 minutes a few times a day works best

Use treats or toys your pup loves to make learning rewarding

Mix up activities to keep your pup engaged and motivated

Make sure your following our socials so you don't miss our 2026 Pup Culture events!👀

Top 3 Dog‑Friendly Winter Walks In Manchester ❄🐾

Looking for great places to get outside with your pup in these colder months?

Try these popular routes:

Heaton Park – One of Europe’s largest parks with vast open spaces, woodlands and lake views - perfect for long walks with your dog (leads required in some areas).

Fletcher Moss Gardens - Dog-friendly routes with gardens, open fields (lead not required) and woodland paths, offering plenty of space to explore and roam.

Chorlton Water Park - Set beside the River Mersey this nature reserve offers a lakeside loop and woodland paths — ideal for dogs to wander and explore.

Make sure you keep your pup warm and safe on winter walks by layering up, staying visible and keeping outings shorter in colder weather.
