Bagel came in to see us today following his castration. After neutering, dogs generally require fewer calories and can be more prone to unwanted weight gain, so it is important to recalculate their daily food allowance.

This is because hormones such as testosterone and oestrogen help regulate metabolism. Following neutering, a dog’s resting energy requirements can decrease by approximately 20–30%, meaning they may gain weight if their food intake is not adjusted accordingly.
