I am a freelance Rider, Trainer and Instructor based in Lytchett Matravers, Dorset. I am passionate bout my work and have over 15 years of experience training and producing all types of horses and ponies both in England and New Zealand. I use a Natural Horsemanship approach to my training which makes me a patient and understanding Instructor. I am accomplished with both young horses and nervous ri

ders alike and am dedicated to helping you and your horse feel confident and happy with one another. My experience includes working with Natural Horsemanship expert- Gary Witheford in Wiltshire for 3+ years, breaking in and working on horses with behaviour problems. I then went on to work as Yard Manager and Rider for the late Adele Schardt at The Eleda Stables, Somerley for 4+ years, starting and producing young horses to compete in British Eventing. I have done an eventing season as Head Girl for professional event riders Gubby Leech and then for Sharon Hunt. I then went over to New Zealand for 4+ years to manage a successful trekking business in the South Island. I moved back to the UK last August (2015) and worked with Nicky Stephens breaking in many of her New Forest ponies. Horses are my life and I love what I do. This gorgeous 22 yr old mare, Gem, has been a fun challenge for her sharer, Winnie. She’s a genuine horse but she is a bit of a speed demon, so when Winnie said she wanted to try jumping her a while ago, we started off very slowly with poles on the ground for a while for Winnie to learn to control Gems keen attitude!! So today, I was so proud of this lovely rhythmical round they produced over the jumps, and think it’s safe to say, Gem is having fun too 🤩

So this week, Whiz and I ventured over to Bicton Arena in Devon, firstly on Thursday to do a normal BD competition and today for the Summer Regional Championships.
We did very well on Thursday, coming away with a 🥈on 66+% in the Medium 6 with a test I was very happy with 🥰
Sadly, today didn’t quite go so well. He lost a lot of impulsion in the test, so didn’t score so well. But he warmed up nicely and didn’t spook in the arena, so I will take away those positives from today❤️

Many gold stars to give out this week 🌟
First goes to Winnie for doing so well jumping Gem who is as keen as a rocket for a 22 yr old😁
Next goes to Soli for doing some lovely lateral work this week 😇
Then we have baby Reggie for being a star hacking on his own, doing some obstacles and going to his first show today, coming away with a 🥈rosette 🤩
Next up is Manni, the crazy ex racehorse, finally relaxing enough to do some long and low work in the arena for both me and his owner, Justine. And this morning we rode him from Corfe Mullen over to Lytchett to his new home and he was such a dude 🥰
But the biggest gold star this weekend goes to Taylor and Roops who competed in the BRC Area 17 Championships and came first in the dressage both days with 75% and 78%🤩 a clear SJ round and Team wins 🥳 So a bloody good weekend for them👏😃
And lastly to Sophie and Malcolm… just because 🌟❤️

I love getting updates from my clients on how they’re doing with their horses, in between lessons, especially when it’s all going well 😜

In this video….Taylor and Roops did very well at the NFRC Show yesterday with a 1st and 3rd🤩
Justine and Manni are smashing their hacks out around Corfe Mullen now🥳
Rachel and Merci working beautifully at Moreton in their lesson and having some cracking hacks out in the forest👌

So Whisper and I competed in the Kingston Maurward BE yesterday …
We did get the best dressage score in our section with 24.8, so that’s something to take home 🥳
But sadly Whisper was not keen to jump in the showjumping ring and no amount of my willpower and determination was getting him over them all 😫 so unfortunately our journey finished there….
I did have an amazing support crew with me, of which I’m very grateful for and feel very lucky to have all that help, Viv, Zoe, Taylor, Rachel, Abi and especially Alfie and Aubrey for keeping Sophie company, thank you all 😘😘
It was a lovely event and a beautifully built XC course which I’d love to hire sometime, but for now, back to the stressage training(after a couple of days off for Whiz I think ☺️🥰)

Whiz and I have had some good educational outings in the last few weeks 🤓
We did Chard British Dressage in Somerset couple weeks ago, I was quite happy with my Adv Med test, but the judge wasn’t a fan😩 so we won’t dwell on that anymore 🤷‍♀️
Half Moon BD last week, spooky indoor arena so very tense but got some nice moments and some better scores for movements we usually struggle with😊 ended up with the same scores as 3 others in my class, so nice to see that!!!
We’ve been doing a bit more jumping lately too, mostly successful, so we’re going to take a little break from pure stressage till the Regionals in August and ‘try’ and enjoy a bit of jumping… next stop KM British Eventing 😬🤩

Took my gorgeous little boy, Whiz, jumping to Kingston Maurward Equestrian today, just for something a little different.
After having a silly stop in the first class, he then gained his confidence in the second class and flew round clear to get us 3rd place 🤩
Huge thanks to Pauline King for being super Nanna today with Sophie ❤️

Gold star of the week finally goes to Manni 🌟 He has not been the easiest horse…!!! He’s a beautiful ex racehorse, and he has a very active and opinionated mind sometimes!! So between his owner, Justine, doing lots of positive groundwork with him walking him out on the roads and we’ve managed to get some good work into him in the arena to clear his buzzy brain, he gave me some beautiful, relaxed work today and gave us a lot of hope for his future 🥳He’s such a smart boy 🥰 Team work makes the dream work ❤️

Whisper was such a star in the heat today at Moreton British Dressage 🥵 We managed to win the Medium test overall and get our qualifying points for Regionals 🥳 and we even got an 8 for our simple change!!! We also got a red ribbon for our Advanced Medium test (I won’t tell you how many people were in the class😏) I was very pleased with this test, as Whisper does not find the flying changes easy, and these, along with the walk pirouettes, have been the bane of my life recently so it’s wonderful when we actually get it right in a test!!!!Huge thanks to Viv Davis for being Super Nanny today 🥰 and Abi King for your lovely support and for videoing my AM test, it’s so good to look back and put it against the judges comments for the improvements! ❤️
