Hola 👋 Me llamo Nina. OMG it was hot last week, it was like i was back in Spain.

So we had another session with Kat. She still doesn't look like a cat.
This week mum just said "come" and gave me a treat. That is it. No asking me to do anything. Just the word and food appeared.
I have decided "come" is my favourite word. 😏

Kat calls this "the recall cue." I call it mum giving me treats for existing and I am very much here for it.
Then mum put a treat down and sneaked off while I was eating. When I lifted my head… "come." I trotted over and something delicious happened between her feet.

I had her figured out by rep 3.
Apparently week 3 gets harder. We will see about that 👀

🐾 Small steps. Clear timing. Lots of treats.

Weekend recharge: Wales, fresh air, and this little face. 🐾

Back in Wales for the weekend with a bike ride around the Great Orme, time with family, and time with my new best friend Ted.

He’s 16 weeks old, a fox red Lab x miniature poodle, and he has already completely stolen my heart. He is such a bachgen da which means good boy.

I may have told his family he can move in with me when they go on holiday. I stand by it.

I’ve also decided I need to get Duolingo out If I’m going to help train him, he's first language Welsh.

Some things are just better together. Sunshine, water, shade, and the right crew around you.

At Kat’s Dogs, our walks are about more than just getting from A to B. They are about matching the right dogs, choosing suitable routes, seeing how each dog is feeling, and keeping things fun and enjoyable.

That same thinking runs through my training support too.

I offer loose lead training walks, 1 to 1 support for loose lead walking, recall and puppy foundations. My IMDT training helps me keep support calm, practical, and tailored to your dog.

The woods, the water, the fields… we mix it up to keep things fresh and interesting 🌿

But honestly? It's less about the place and more about the dogs they get to explore, learn and play with....and the treats ❤️

To say it's been a hot day today is an understatment. I've been visiting my pooches at home. By next week we might be paddling in the rain again..Who knows...

Our Friday crew today 🐾
With the temperatures climbing, we swapped our usual routine for a shaded woodland walk to help keep everyone cooler and more comfortable.

Plenty of sniffing, slower pacing, shade breaks, and happy dogs 🌿 #

Hola Nina

Nina is an 18 month old Brittany Spaniel who is now very much living her best life.

Six months ago she made the journey from Bilbao, Spain, swapped the Spanish sunshine for the East Midlands, and landed exactly where she was supposed to be, with mum, dad, and two brilliant boys who she has completely wrapped around her paw.

She is definitely a little bit fair weather and still not entirely convinced about British rain. The Spanish side comes out regularly ☀️

The one small challenge? Nina is effectively bilingual.

She is still very much learning the English side of things, especially when it comes to recall. The family would love to eventually give her more freedom off lead so she can sniff, explore, and enjoy being a spaniel while still confidently coming back when called.

When I first met Nina and her family, we started with a full consultation to understand her routines, motivations, current training, and what they wanted to achieve together. From there, we began building a realistic recall training plan that fits naturally into everyday life.

We are now just starting our training journey together through 1 to 1 recall sessions and building her foundations step by step 🐶

Oh… and before becoming Nina, she was originally called Tina 😊

Enzo 🐾

6 years old. Boston Terrier. Absolutely full of himself (in the best way).

Enzo has been part of the Kat’s Dogs crew for a little while now and it felt well overdue to give him a proper introduction. Nose running at 100 sniffs a minute on every single walk, the world is basically one giant smell to him and he doesn't want to miss out.

He came in confident and never looked back. Knows his mates, loves his routes, and gets on with enjoying himself.

He’s very much your typical Boston Terrier. Curious, social, confident, and a cheeky little character 🐾

Another step in my ongoing learning with the IMDT🐾🐕📚

I have just completed The Recall Masterclass with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers.

Recall and loose lead walking are two of the biggest things people want to enjoy with their dogs, and both can make time together far more enjoyable. But they rely on much more than simply teaching a cue. They are built through trust, motivation, relationship, and making being near you feel worthwhile for the dog.

This webinar builds on the face to face training courses I have already completed with the IMDT, and adds to the different ways I can approach and teach recall that adapt to the individual dog. Not every dog learns in the same way, is motivated by the same things, or finds the same environments easy.

What I really enjoy about IMDT training is how practical and thoughtful it is. Looking at the individual dog, how they feel, what motivates them, and how we can build skills in a way that is fair, clear, and enjoyable for both dog and owner.

Always learning. Always building my understanding.

Beagle mode: activated 🐾

Meet Yoshi. 6 months old and powered entirely by nose, treats, and TLC.

He bounds over for a treat, praise, or a stroke and was happy to see me every time I walked through the door. He made my day, every day. Peak good boy energy. And those ears… absolutely fab.

Yoshi's family needed a little extra support for a week, and this guy made every single walk an adventure. Beagles are scent hounds through and through, and Yoshi leaned into every bit of it. Nose working overtime, brain fully engaged, happiest when he had a trail to follow.

Alongside regular dog walking, I also offer short term cover when life gets busy. If you need an extra helping hand for a few days or a couple of weeks, just let me know.
