Boredom in birds is often underestimated, but it can have a big impact on their wellbeing. ๐ฆ
In the wild, birds spend their whole day flying, foraging, gnawing, climbing and socialising. At home or in an aviary, many of these natural activities are missing, which means boredom can develop more quickly.
Signs of boredom can include:
๐ชถ Feather plucking
๐ Lots of screaming
๐ Aggressive behaviour
๐คซ Quiet or withdrawn behaviour
๐ Repetitive or obsessive behaviour
Luckily, you can help prevent boredom with enough space, varied toys, mental stimulation and daily interaction. Think, for example, of foraging toys, natural perches, climbing materials and regularly changing the setup.
This way, you not only give your bird something to do, but also contribute to a richer and healthier life. ๐
