Vera is studying towards her ICMG Track 1 (Professional dog grooming) & 2 (advanced dog grooming) qualifications course, and she’ll be the first to admit it hasn’t all been smooth sailing!
Dog grooming is an incredibly skilled and physically demanding profession, Vera has discovered muscles she didn’t even know she had! But we’ve loved watching her progress, particularly the wonderful connection she has with the dogs she works with and the fantastic results she is now achieving. We’re incredibly proud of how far she has come, and it won’t be long before she takes her exams. ❤️
Technically, anyone can call themselves a dog groomer. You can take a cheap online course and set up a grooming business, which is something we find quite concerning.
At Love My Human Academy, we believe proper grooming training needs to be hands-on. Students need to learn how to safely handle a dog, understand and feel different coat types, use professional equipment correctly and, most importantly, gain real practical experience working with dogs.
When choosing a groomer, don’t be afraid to ask about their qualifications, training and experience. Grooming isn’t just about making a dog look beautiful you’re trusting someone with the safety, comfort and wellbeing of a much-loved member of your family.
