Where my fellow wire coat dogs at? 🥳

We love a good handstrip here at The Mud Room it’s satisfying for us and the dogs (once they realise it’s basically a spa treatment with snacks).

Swipe for a mid-strip progress pic just halfway through and you can already see the difference!

So why do we hand strip?
Because it removes dead coat from the root, helps the skin breathe, and keeps that lovely coarse texture and colour looking its best! no clippers needed.

You can go for a beautifully tight and tidy finish, or (like this adorable scruffball) embrace the rustic, natural look. Either way, we’re here for it 🐾💛

Say hello to who I can only describe as our ray of  sunshine, Elina! ☀️✨

Elina radiates warmth, patience, and pure good vibes (seriously, it’s not just the dogs that feel it). She’s got a heart of gold and a sixth sense for making even the most nervous pup feel totally at ease.

You’ll often catch her singing along to the Radio mid groom and putting on a full on feel good concert for the dogs 🎤🐾

Whether she’s chatting sweetly to a shy dog or doing a full serenade during bath time, Elina brings joy, calm, and care to everything she does. And we are truly so lucky to have her 💛

When you’re nervous about getting groomed but then realise this isn’t so bad!

What is the Key to a relaxed groom?

Let the dog take the lead, not the other way around!
Most dogs don’t need to be strained - if they want to sit let them sit ; if they need a break, give them one. Trusting their groomer is key and trust doesn’t build if you have to force a dog into anything!

👑 Sphynx cats may not have fur, but that doesn’t mean they’re low maintenance! Their unique skin needs special attention to stay clean and healthy. Here’s how you can keep your Sphynx feeling fresh and fabulous:

✨ Weekly Baths

Since Sphynx cats don’t have fur to absorb oils, their skin gets oily fast! Bath your Sphynx every 1-2 weeks using gentle, cat-safe shampoo to avoid irritation. Remember to rinse well and keep them cozy and warm afterward!

✨ Skin Folds Care

Make sure to clean between their cute skin folds to prevent dirt buildup and irritation. Use a damp cloth for a gentle cleanse between baths. No fur = extra care for those folds!

✨ Ear Cleaning

Sphynx ears produce more wax than other breeds. Use a soft cotton pad with a pet-safe cleaner to gently wipe their ears weekly, avoiding going too deep.

✨ Moisturising Their Skin

Keep your Sphynx’s skin hydrated! Use a tiny amount of pure coconut oil or pet-safe moisturiser after baths to keep their skin soft and smooth. Avoid human lotions, as they may contain harmful ingredients.

✨ Nail Care

Their nails tend to build up oils and dirt, so clean them regularly and trim them to keep your kitty happy and healthy.

During the warmer months we see a huge surge in Pets coming in with grass seeds. Keep Your Dog and yes even cats safe from Grass Seeds. ⬇️

Daily Checks: After walks, give your dog (and your cat once they’ve come home) a once over, especially paws, ears, and armpits.Keep their fur short in areas where seeds like to hide. armpits, ears, paw & paw-pads

- Constant licking or biting at a spot
- Red, swollen skin
- Head shaking or scratching at ears
- Limping or refusing to walk
