This World Cancer Day, meet Stanley. This distinguished gentleman is a 13 yr old Labradoodle, and proud member of our St. John’s Wood family! When his human brought him in for his Initial Health Consultation last summer she hadn’t had any particular concerns, but on examination Dr Evie found a lump on his bottom. After a chat, they agreed Dr Evie would take a sample, which sadly came back as malignant and aggressive.
We had Stanley come in for a general anaesthetic and full blood testing, chest x-rays, abdominal ultrasound, and further samples to look for the spread of cancer. During the ultrasound Dr Evie found a second mass, so after another conversation with Stanley’s parents the difficult decision was made for him to have surgery, and later, chemotherapy. But ever the fighter, he’s been doing extremely well and after his latest check-up with Dr Evie today, she says things are looking up! We’re all so proud of you, Stanley 💪💜
Remember, our furry friends are great at masking pain and discomfort, so regular check-ups are vital for early diagnoses and better outcomes. If you’ve been putting off that check-up, here’s your sign to get it in the diary!
