We’re proud of our reputation as a friendly & caring veterinary practice..... we hold three clinics every week day, and one on Saturdays, so it’s always easy to book in whether your requirement is urgent or simply routine. FARM AND LARGE ANIMAL SERVICES

Our Farm & Large Animal service supports many dairy producers as well as beef and sheep farmers. We are “on-farm” on a daily basis providing herd health planning advice, routine fertility visits and diagnostic problem-solving
At the practice, we have facilities to hospitalise and treat calves and sheep, as well as performing operations such as caesareans and hernia corrections. We offer all our large animal clients a dedicated out of hours emergency service that allows them access to all our services, either on farm or at the practice. We work closely with several outside agencies (such as the AHVLA and SAC) to allow us to provide the most up-to-date advice available at any given time

EQUINE SERVICES

Our First Opinion Equine Vets provide local horse owners with a comprehensive range of services and advice. We offer a 24 hour emergency service and work closely with local equine specialists enabling us to offer a premium class service which is personal and caring

We’re going to miss having Liv around, but thankfully she’ll still be popping in and out to say hello — and hopefully, in four years’ time, she’ll be back to join us again! ❤️

⭐AUGUST PET OF THE MONTH⭐

This month we have two winners of our Pet of the Month - Clarrie and Quinn!!

Quinn is a beautiful little Cavalier who’s a big fan of getting into places he shouldn’t – like the bins! When his parents weren’t looking, he managed to get hold of cooked chicken bones, which he needed emergency surgery to remove from his stomach. Despite the surgery’s success, we noticed something still wasn’t quite right.
After some investigations we realised a secret bone was hidden at the very back of his throat – and once this was removed he finally started feeling like himself again. He was a brilliant patient and we’re happy to say he’s back home safe and sound.

Clarrie came to see us after being found by her family with wounds to her front leg and tail. The wound on her front leg was so deep that a drain had to be placed to help it heal, and her injuries were so extensive that we were worried she may lose her tail.
However Clarrie was a very brave patient throughout her stay with us and tolerated her daily dressing changes well. She managed to heal beautifully and is now back home being her adventurous self again!

Unfortunately we haven’t been able to locate this lovely girls owner, if no one comes forward for her in the next 3 days we will be looking to rehome her.

We have had a wire haired Jack Russell female handed in to the practice, she is friendly and microchipped but unfortunately the chip is still registered to the breeder 🐾 She was found by the Punch Bowl pub in Llandrinio.

🩸Pet blood donation list🩸

Throughout the UK, hundreds of critically ill or injured dogs require a blood transfusion from another healthy donor. Without these donors, many pets are unable to make a full recovery. Four Crosses Vets are looking for local pet heroes and volunteers to join our canine blood donation list.

What does this mean?
As a volunteer on the list, you may be contacted about potential pet blood donation when we have a critically ill or injured patient at the practice requiring urgent blood transfusion.

How is blood donated?
Your pet will receive a pre-donation health check and a small clip patch on their neck to allow our vets to see the vein, a local anaesthetic cream is then applied on the skin where blood will be donated from. Donation can take up to 10 minutes but up to 45 minutes must be allowed for the whole process.

Is it safe?
Blood donors will be carefully examined before donation and prior blood screening will be performed to make sure the donor is a suitable candidate on the day.

What are the requirements of being a canine donor?
-
Relaxed, friendly and otherwise healthy dog
- 1 to 8 years old
- More than 25 kg
- Up to date with vaccinations
- Born and lives in the UK
- Must never have received a blood transfusion
