INDEPENDENT VETERINARY PRACTICE

PETS AND SMALL ANIMALS

We’re proud of our reputation as a friendly & caring veterinary practice..... we hold three clinics every week day, and one on Saturdays, so it’s always easy to book in whether your requirement is urgent or simply routine. Like yourselves, we are all animal lovers and pet owners and our goal is to do our very best to help your pet lead a lon

g, healthy and active life. We want you to feel confident in our staff and their knowledge whilst treating your pets

FARM AND LARGE ANIMAL SERVICES

Our Farm & Large Animal service supports many dairy producers as well as beef and sheep farmers. We are “on-farm” on a daily basis providing herd health planning advice, routine fertility visits and diagnostic problem-solving
At the practice, we have facilities to hospitalise and treat calves and sheep, as well as performing operations such as caesareans and hernia corrections. We offer all our large animal clients a dedicated out of hours emergency service that allows them access to all our services, either on farm or at the practice. We work closely with several outside agencies (such as the AHVLA and SAC) to allow us to provide the most up-to-date advice available at any given time

EQUINE SERVICES

Our First Opinion Equine Vets provide local horse owners with a comprehensive range of services and advice. We offer a 24 hour emergency service and work closely with local equine specialists enabling us to offer a premium class service which is personal and caring

A very sweet ginger stray has been brought into us by a member of the public, found in the Welshpool area. The fur around the neck suggests there may have once been a collar but unfortunately no microchip. For more information please contact the practice on 01691 830235

✨📚School Visit📚✨

We were delighted to welcome years one and two from Llandysilio Primary School to the vets recently. They had a tour of the practice and learnt about how we take care of unwell pets.

They asked some fantastic questions and were very interested in what the vets and nurses had to show them.

Hopefully some future veterinary staff in the making! 🩺🩺

✨PET OF THE MONTH✨

Super cute Charlie is our pet of the month from May. He was brought in to us as an emergency case nearly a year ago because he had become extremely lethargic, pale and very unwell. After emergency stabilisation and treatment it was revealed that Charlie was suffering from a condition called Immune Mediated Haemolytic Anaemia (IMHA).

This is a life threatening condition where the dog’s immune system attacks its own red blood cells, making them extremely anemic. We have very sadly had some dogs that have not responded to treatment so this was a very worrying time for Charlie’s owner.

We worked with Northwest specialists to manage his medication over several months until he could eventually be weaned off the drugs.

Amazingly Charlie is now medication free and doing really well at home, with his most recent blood tests being all clear! He was super throughout all his visits and we are so glad he is better ❤️❤️❤️

✨PET OF THE MONTH✨

Our pet of the month for April is little Freddie. Poor Freddie suffered horrendous wounds covering over 50% of his body after being attacked by another dog.

It was touch and go at times as Freddie needed a lot of care to heal and regrow his skin. He required regular bandage changes from January through to April.

Amazingly he is now fully recovered. He has been brilliant throughout his treatment and we are so glad he is no longer in full body bandages now the warmer weather is here!
