Chloe here: How gorgeous is Nyla 😻 I've seen her since she was a baby, her fur is absolutely lovely so I just give it a quick check through, I trimmed her tummy as it's getting a bit too fluffy and around her bum to help keep it clean. I also checked her eyes and ears and trimmed her claws. She's such a lovely girl

Chloe here: I saw Izzy today for a groom. She's an older girl and had a very knotty tummy and knots on her sides. I brushed out as many knots as I could using the wide tooth comb. For the knots underneath I used my small white clippers to shave them off as her skin was very foldy and I didn't want to cut her. The picture above shows the knots I shaved off from her chest down onto her tummy

Let’s talk hairballs! We get so many questions about this subject.

Although gross, it’s usually completely normal. Cats are a little obsessed with grooming themselves and their barbed tongues act like combs pulling out loose fur. They then swallow it and usually digest it but occasionally it forms a ball that they need to cough up. Cue dramatic coughing, retching and subsequent release of the furball into their humans slipper or alternatively splattered on some form of soft furnishing 🙄

You may notice more hairballs during shedding season (Autumn/spring) as cats coats undergo a change.
You can help your cats out by regularly brushing them to remove loose fur or alternatively drop us a message and we can book them in for a groom 😻

The gorgeous pic is of Teddy who Katie visits for his regular groom.

Chloe here: I saw Peppa yesterday for her groom. She's an older girl now and has some health problems so has stopped grooming herself. I used the small white clippers to remove a tight knot from one of her back legs and some knots on her tummy and in her armpits. However, most of her knots came out with the wide tooth comb. We couldn't believe the pile of fluff that came out of her today!

About Me

For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to work with animals, specifically cats. I was brought up in a household with cats and have always felt a special affinity with them and am lucky to have four in my life at the moment. As a teenager I worked in a veterinary practice and spent a summer at Knowsley Safari Park while in sixth form as my childhood dream was to be a vet. I loved the work, but found the sadder aspects more difficult so decided to do my degree in Biochemistry and Neurobiology instead, for which I gained a 2:1. Around 2014 I became quite sick and had to stop working altogether to concentrate on my own health and wellbeing which gave me a chance to really think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

I eased back into work as a cat sitter for The Cat Sit Company (a lot more demanding than I expected!) and dared to dream that I may be able to work with cats as a career after all.... I found that by looking after a range of different breeds, types and ages of cats and engaging with their owners, I became really interested in cat wellness and grooming which is what led me to researching cat grooming as a potential career. It seemed so right for me to study and I’m so excited to finally be doing my dream job. Alongside grooming I’m also studying an advanced diploma in Feline Behaviour to further understand and work with these adorably fascinating creatures. The wellbeing and health of cats will always be a priority and a passion for me and now I am ready to make this my life.

Who knew that ill health could lead to such a complete change happening in my life and that this would turn out in such a positive way, where I get to do what truly makes me happy!
