Chloe here: I saw gorgeous Lexi today. In this photo she is showing off one of her many poses for grooming herself. I gave her a good comb with the wide tooth comb (coarse comb) which she loves, today she was giving her human some lovely blinky eyes and purring a little. I gave the fur around her face a trim as she has been getting knotty around there, she gets a regular tummy trim to prevent knitting and I trim around her bum to help her keep it clean. She is great for her groom but she does have a bit of a hiss when it comes to trimming her nails bless her 😂

Chloe here: I saw lovely Ralph today. I gave him some fuss before I started, I gave him a trim around the back end to help him keep that clean and while I was doing that I found some knots on his back legs which I trimmed off with the clippers. I also felt a knot on his shoulder and one in both of his armpits, I used the little white clippers to trim them off and I finished by trimming his claws.

Chloe here: I met lovely Mahina recently. She is a rescue cat and had a few knots. Before attempting to trim the knots off I turned on the clippers just so she could get used to the sound of them, she was rather wiggly while I was clipping those knots off but in the end I was able to get them all off fairly easily. I gave her a good brush with the wide tooth comb to remove the fur that was shedding, gave her a trim around the bottom to help keep it clean and trimmed her claws. She was such a lovely girl.

Katie here - can you believe the amount of fur combed from Betty and Zena?!? Each pile is just one cat! Just goes to show it’s what I always say that it’s the thickness of the fur rather than the length that impacts how much grooming each cat needs.

These girls recently moved house with their human and have settled in so well to their new environment. Not all cats adapt so well but these ex rescue mother and daughter have been living their best lives for many years now and are so much more settled than when I first met them in 2022 💜

Chloe here: I saw gorgeous Bluey for his groom today. His owner said that he was shedding a lot so I started with the wide-tooth comb to start removing the shedding fur and check for knots. Once I was certain that he had no knots I used my other comb to really help remove the rest of the shedding fur. I also gave him a trim around the back end to help him keep that clean and trimmed the fluff off this underside of his feet as he skids on the floor at home. Throughout his groom Bluey was very wiggly and just couldn't sit still which was rather entertaining, he was such a lovely boy to groom.

At Team Kat Lady your feedback is so important to us! You know your feline friends better than anyone so we will always listen and take on board your observations.
We’ve just received a wonderful review from Bob and Tatiana 😻

“Just wanted to thank you again for the work you did on Tatty (Tatiana). Being long-haired keeping her knot free is a challenge to us both.
She now looks and great, and seems more than contented with her haircut.
Your handling of her was firm but gentle. Very skilful. It seemed to reduce any distress at having the knots of fur combed, even on her tummy, to an absolute minimum.
Thanks again”

Thank you Bob for your fab feedback! We look forward to seeing Tatiana again 🐾

Chloe here: I visited Poppy for a groom today. Poppy is an older girl at 17 and had a lot of knots bless her. As you can see there are some large shaved areas from where I have had to use the clippers to remove knots that are too tight to be combed out. I tried to keep as much of her fur as possible because she goes outside. Her claws kept getting stuck so I gave them a trim after I had removed all her knots and then let her go. Afterwards I put some Valerian out for her and in the photo above she was sitting on it after eating some of it.

Chloe here: I saw gorgeous Madonna today. She's been having a teddy cut the past few times I've groomed her and this is because her fur usually gets matted when it's long and is harder to maintain for her owners so taking off some of the length makes it easier for them. She is so good while I do this and usually just sits on the table while I trim her. She isnt a big fan of me trimming her underneath but she just grumbles. To finish I trim her bum to make it easier for her to keep it clean and then I let her go. Today she decided to stay sitting on the table while we picked up the fur off the floor, there was a lot of it.

Chloe here: I saw lovely Lulu yesterday. Looking at her picture you wouldn't think that she needed to have her sides shaved. She had some big tight knots along on her back legs, a couple on her chest and one in her armpit which I shaved off her as it was kinder for her, when it came to sorting around the back legs Lulu's lovely human held her so I could move them and shave the knots off easier. After she was finished Lulu went and laid in the hallway and even came back to investigate the bathroom.

About Me

For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to work with animals, specifically cats. I was brought up in a household with cats and have always felt a special affinity with them and am lucky to have four in my life at the moment. As a teenager I worked in a veterinary practice and spent a summer at Knowsley Safari Park while in sixth form as my childhood dream was to be a vet. I loved the work, but found the sadder aspects more difficult so decided to do my degree in Biochemistry and Neurobiology instead, for which I gained a 2:1. Around 2014 I became quite sick and had to stop working altogether to concentrate on my own health and wellbeing which gave me a chance to really think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

I eased back into work as a cat sitter for The Cat Sit Company (a lot more demanding than I expected!) and dared to dream that I may be able to work with cats as a career after all.... I found that by looking after a range of different breeds, types and ages of cats and engaging with their owners, I became really interested in cat wellness and grooming which is what led me to researching cat grooming as a potential career. It seemed so right for me to study and I’m so excited to finally be doing my dream job. Alongside grooming I’m also studying an advanced diploma in Feline Behaviour to further understand and work with these adorably fascinating creatures. The wellbeing and health of cats will always be a priority and a passion for me and now I am ready to make this my life.

Who knew that ill health could lead to such a complete change happening in my life and that this would turn out in such a positive way, where I get to do what truly makes me happy!
