❤️ 🌟 🐶 Today is international Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Day 🐶 🌟 ❤️

International Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Day (CKCS Day)is celebrated annually on the last Saturday of May - TODAY 🥳🎉

Originally, this breed was classified as a hunting dog but over the years they have become primarily an indoor dog. Cavaliers are very happy and affectionate, and always eager to please. They are extremely playful and patient. On the other hand, they are just as happy sitting in a lap or cuddling up on a cushion next to you, which makes them excellent pets. Cavaliers are not shy and don’t treat anyone as a stranger. They socialize well with other dogs and people. However, they do not make a good watch dog because of their friendly nature.

This day is a special one for our Head Nurse, Carra! Below are some pictures of her 7 year old baby, Bumble 🐾(don’t be fooled by the innocent eyes and cute pictures, he’s michevious boy) ❤️🥰

Please post pictures below of your gorgeous pups, Cavaliers get bonus points for today only 🥰

So yesterday we had a visit at Archway Vets from Comet,a Sulcata African tortoise (in to be weighed). Not to be outdone, today at The Bridge Vets, we have a Yellow Belly Slider (turtle). 🐢 Found in the middle of the road earlier in Lechlade, we are now on a mission to get him into a wildlife rescue tonight, due to being a non native species, we cannot release him back to the wild.

🌡️☀️ Heat Stroke in Pets Can Be Fatal — Prevention is Key! 🐾

As temperatures rise, our furry friends are at serious risk of heat stroke. Unlike humans, pets cannot cool themselves efficiently, making hot weather especially dangerous for dogs, cats, and small animals.

🚨 Signs of heat stroke include:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Bright red gums
• Collapse or seizures

🐶🐱 How to help prevent heat stroke:
✅ Always provide fresh, cool water
✅ Keep pets indoors or in shaded areas during peak heat
✅ Avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day
✅ Never leave pets in parked cars — even for a few minutes
✅ Use cooling mats, fans, or damp towels to help them stay cool
✅ Be extra cautious with flat-faced breeds, elderly pets, and overweight animals

If you suspect your pet may be suffering from heat stroke, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact us immediately.
Over the bank holiday weekend you will be redirected to Eastcott Vets in Swindon.

Let’s keep our pets safe and comfortable in this heatwave! ☀️🐾

Below is a video of Bumble, Carra’s dog, Enjoying a treat and encouraging water play to keep him cool. 🐶 ❤️

Jane - “The place you keep bees is called an apiary and I have two hives in my apiary with between 30,000 to 60,000 bees in each hive. I started bee keeping in 2022 so this is my 4th season.”
