With the extreme heat conditions please remember:
Don't walk your dog at the hottest parts of the day. Even the evening may still be too hot.
Check the ground with the back of your hand - tarmac can get incredibly hot, and doggy paws can easily burn.
DO NOT leave your dog unattended in a car this weekend, for any length of time.
Recognise the wide mouth and curled tongue of a dog overheating. If you think your pet has heat stroke, GET THEM WET then TO THE VET. Use the coldest water you can get. Don't use towels.
Most dogs will eat less when it's hot outside, especially when walks are reduced. Don't stress too much about this unless your pet is showing other signs of illness.
Cat owners: carry on. (Unless you take your cat places - then maybe don't this weekend!)
