Rushton dog rescue was founded nearly 15 years ago by Cindi Mcneil after her Partner Timothy Rushton passed away. Rushton dog rescue is a U.K. registered charity- 1139999. The charity is now run by Mother & Daughter Duo Cindi & Zoe. Who live, breath & have dedicated their whole lives to saving those who need them most. Rushton is now lucky enough to have their very own beautiful sanctuary which is

named Freedom Farm, in the heart of Somerset, with 40 + kennels, vet room, stables, fields, woodlands & many various buildings, all set in a stunning 15 acres. The animals spend the majority of the day running free & socialising together, they are not kennelled for long periods & the charity’s ethos includes dogs being able to express themselves freely without any pressures or restrictions. Freedom Farm is also home to four rescue Shetland ponies, a horse, 3 ducks & a cat. Many dogs on site are permanent sanctuary dogs for various reasons, mostly through fear of humans, medical issues & many Chinese meat trade survivors who have been so terrorised by their abusers they require a pressure free life which is what Rushton give them. Rushton rescue dogs from various places, primarily the Chinese meat trade which the charity have successfully saved hundreds & hundreds from over a 5 year period. Rushton have also saved dogs from a multitude of countries & always prioritise their local U.K. they wouldn’t have it any other way!

Our lovely beagle Bella has left freedom farm 🥹

Bella came into us 12months ago after her dad passed away locally leaving her with no one to care for her, when she arrived she was clearly grieving the loss of her dad, we kept her for all this time because that’s what she required, she needed time, to learn that another environment is okay, we knew Bella was ready to leave us, we read them all well and take every bit of behaviour into consideration, we knew she was ready to have her own person again. It’s not about rushing dogs out of the gates.. we don’t operate as a numbers game, it’s about the individual as they are just as important as the next one behind them needing saving.

We’ve found Bella the perfect home for her, a lovely lady who was desperate for a dog companion and we knew Bella was her girl, when they first met it was love for them both, Bella was like yesss she’s my person! We told her this morning you are going home today, was like she just knew and skipped down the farm as to say “yeah cheers for everything, il be okay”

Bella is living in a beautiful countryside property, with a lovely garden, surrounded by fields and stunning walks!

We know she is going to love every inch of this new life we have found her, thank you to her lovely adopter for coming to us, we hope you have a wonderful time together and as always.. we are ALWAYS here if ever needed.

Bella, we shall miss you but we are so happy for you. We hope your dad in heaven approves with your new home.

Ella is being spayed today! 💕

We’ve just dropped of our little black beauty to the vets for her operation.

MUMMA KRISSY UPDATE 💕

Here she is, the lovely confused girl. We managed to get her outside for the longest time yet, which is great. She’s doing okay, she’s obviously just feeling all over the place, she’s started her medication to stop her milk flow.

Krissy had really bad skin when we got her, she’s under treatment for this since we saved her.

Oh sweet Krissy girl, we’re sorry it didn’t all go to plan but that’s life sometimes, we don’t blame you, it’s not your fault, the monsters who abused you are too blame no one else.

The future is bright Krissy, we will find you a fabulous home when you are ready 💕

Sparky has said he’s heard all about the goings on with those pups and baby mama…. He says they hope they grow to be big and strong like he is now… atleast those babies will never experience what our Sparky did.

Physical scars fade… emotional scars stay forever. Weather you see it in their daily activities or not it’s there.. they don’t forget.

Sparky said he’s going to put himself forward as god father… we think not Sparky, those pups have been through enough already 🥲

That’s the remaining babies delivered safely to their foster mum.. our wonderful groomer Penny! We can’t thank her enough for taking them on for a couple of weeks, once we’re out of the bottle feeding stage they will come back to freedom farm.

We stopped off at the vets on the way, the vet came and had a look at them in the van and says they all look good so hopefully they will all carry on thriving 🤞

We’ve also had to get some Galstop medication for mumma Krissy.. as she needs that now to stop the milk and ensure she doesn’t get mastitis. All very sad as she was really trying to be great mum but it’s just too much for her. We can concentrate on getting Krissy happy now the babies are being cared for in their foster.

Let’s give a huge big thank you to Penny and her daughter Morgan who will do their best for them over the next part of time. We will be popping over to take supplies and check in!

PUPPY UPDATE…

We are so sad to share that at 4am baby precious girl slipped away whilst asleep on my chest whilst doing the nightly bottle feeding. She didn’t suffer but just just wasn’t strong enough to make it 💔

The remaining 5 boys have done well over night and were fed every 2-3hours through the night, this morning they are all content.

We will be moving them to pennys today so she can continue the feeding.

We really want to get some of the puppy weening wet food in for them so we can start to introduce that in the next week slowly. Can you help? Pictured below is the type of baby dog food we require.

Pictured is also baby girl who has now sadly left us, as you can see the boys are all enjoying a sleep under their heat lamp.

‼️Puppy Update‼️

What a day 💔

Mumma dog Krissy started to bite her babies in a way that caused the black and white boy damage, we rushed him to the vets but sadly they had to put him to sleep as he wasn’t going to make it, we cannot express to you all just how devastated we are with this so please be kind. He was a beautiful boy 💔

We’ve had to remove all the babies away from her for their safety, this is NOT Krissys fault at all, she’s a dog who has been totally abused, she’s been under so much stress, she never asked to be mum, we don’t blame her for this. So please understand she was doing her best, please don’t judge her.

Plan going forward is, babies are inside with us, being bottle fed then tomorrow our wonderful Penny is going to take them to hers and continue with the rearing so we can try and save the remaining 6. Penny lives really close to us so we can keep popping in, our work load is huge here so this is a massive help for us and the babies. Once they are off the bottle they will all return to us (if they all make it 🤞) we’ve got everything in place for their best chance of survival.

Little girl is still going, she’s not even weighing on the scales she’s so small, the 5 boys are all weighing in around 3lb.

Why anyone would want to breed to even run the risk of the mother doing something like this… watching a dog give birth is awful, watching them manage their litter is equally as awful.

The only people to blame here are the monsters who forced Krissy into pup and made her life stressful.

We promise you all we will do all we can, with Penny on board we’ve got a good team to support them.

‼️PUPPY INCUBATOR NEEDED ASAP!! ‼️

‼️We’ve had to move the babies away from mum, she has bitten the black and white boy and we rushed him to the vets but he’s had to be pts 💔 we will do a post later explaining more what’s happening but we need an incubator asap as we are having to hand rear the rest for a chance of survival ‼️
