π Help Us Keep Our Pond Fish Safe & Happy! πβ¨
We love seeing so many families enjoying our pond, but recently weβve had a few sad incidents where our fish have been injured or killed. We want to make sure our pond remains a safe home for them, so we're sharing a quick reminder on how to be a fish superhero when you visit! π¦ΈββοΈπ¦ΈββοΈ
Here is why certain actions harm our underwater friends:
πͺ¨ Throwing Stones & Rocks
* Choking Risk: Fish often try to eat floating or falling objects. Swallowing small stones causes internal blockages and makes it hard for them to swim.
* Physical Harm: Large rocks hit with force and cause fatal injuries.
* Shock & Stress: Loud impacts and sudden disruptions cause severe stress, making fish hide, stop eating, and get sick.
ποΈ Putting Hands in the Water
* Even clean-looking hands carry everyday lotions, soaps, or bacteria that harm a fishβs sensitive skin and protective coat.
π Throwing in Outside Food
* Human snacks and bird food aren't suitable for pond fish. They can't digest it properly, which makes them unwell and pollutes their water.
Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, causing harm or suffering to animals is illegal. While we know little hands sometimes throw things by accident, we kindly ask all parents and guardians to help us supervise children and teach them gentle habits around our animals. πΏ
Thank you so much for helping us protect our pond community. Our animalsβand our teamβcanβt wait to welcome you on your next visit! ππβ¨
